Rear Window is an awesome movie.
That's what I'm watching at the moment too!

I just assumed it was a term from the movie they were talking about and Lendren hadn't gotten to that part yet. >.>

I don't think people said Knux in the 1950s. Then again, I might have misinterpreted Lendren's reaction...
(And I'm speaking as the "old guy" who doesn't know a THING about, say, Final Fantasy at all--so I understand feeling out of touch with the younger generation).

It's just one of those things that I do. It's totally lame. Which is why I love it.

I had no clue what the movie was about, why I assumed that. And I'm of the younger generation and I'm out of touch with it. :\\ I barely know anything about Final Fantasy myself.

Yeah, I thought exactly the same thing. I'm 22 and had no idea wtf Phoebus was on about until Tully's link.
EDIT: AND I'm a Final Fantasy fan, although I don't know what that has to do with it.
Lendren2011-05-12 18:26:13
Tully had it right, and I'm speaking as the even-older-than-Tully guy.
I actually did a Google search on the term, but when none of the first screenful's results were relevant, I thought my reaction was more appropriate than digging farther would have been.

Shiri, I was just pointing out how different the generations are, because FF is such a touchstone game and because I didn't grow up with the second generation of consoles I was out of that whole market, even though I liked computer games. Since I'm now over 40 I really start to feel the differences.
(But I also think the generation gaps are getting a bit wider when pop culture is concerned, because change is happening so fast and media's become so fragmented you can't keep up)...
Enough of a rant in a real world raves thread.

Making an extravagant cake for my friend's graduation from pharmacy school... A nine inch brownie layer sandwiched between two nine inch chocolate cake layers, all covered in coffee buttercream and topped with two six inch vanilla cake layers with... I don't even know what kind of frosting yet. And then it all gets beautiful homemade marshmallow fondant and classy black vertical stripes.
So far all the baked components and fondant have come out perfectly. But cake decorating is not my specialty so I've been pretty nervous about this for a while.
Pictures later tonight when it's done!

Stomach ulcers bad! But quitting soda is good. I used to have a caffeine addiction, and getting over it is something I'm still proud of. It was a year before I even had a sip of soda again, but now I can drink it (I probably have like, a can at most every month) without going back to that state of craving it all the time or needing it to get through the day.
Good work! You should find yourself feeling a lot better, in ways besides stomach-ulcer-related-things.

Well, I found out it's not a stomach ulcer after all. My first blood test showed high liver enzymes, and my doctor thought it might have been a blocked gallbladder(ie, gallstones). That's not a good thing, because it would require very expensive surgery, and my insurance deductible went from $2,500 to $10,000 after the new health care bill passed last year. Basically, surgery is not an option, I would be screwed. But after running a second blood test, he says things are looking better and that it's definitely NOT gallstones. They think I probably picked up a virus in my liver while I was in the philippines. He says it should be a minor problem that is easily treatible. I hope so. It's been hurting like hell for 2 weeks now. Somebody give me their liver.......

I had a coherent and progressive dream with a consistent storyline and cast. These are very rare.

So I sold the Karn Liberated card that I pulled at the New Phyrexia pre-release on ebay for $26.
Used the funds to participate in the release party sealed tourney today, and managed to come in second place - winning two boosters. I didn't pull anything especially great during the tourney, but I had a perfect storm of infect cards. Almost every creature I got had infect, and I also pulled a lot of spells with proliferate, including a contagion clasp.
After the tourney a few of us decided to do a "pack wars" game, everyone buys 3 boosters, adds 3 of each land per booster, and then shuffles the cards without looking at them.
After it was over I was looking through my deck to try and find my 3rd rare, and it was a Tezzerat, Agent of Bolas....a card worth ~$30.
Trying to decide if I want to sell it or build a deck to use it.

Dude no, the man is a freaking work robot, he was just doin' thangs, then he came back and had to work on a flash which always takes a few days. The fact that he usually churns out so many pages so quickly is why not having an update for a week and a half was strange at all.
