There's been a number of fairly good tributes on several webcomics - as well as other parts of the web and beyond.
Well, I have played DnD. As much as I prefer more light weight systems and often joke about the many aspects of DnD I don't like, it still has done an awful lot for gaming. I also still certainly got quite a but of enjoyment out of DnD and other RPGs as well - many of which wouldn't have come around had it not been for DnD's success. Gygax certainly has made his mark on the world and he has affected the lives of a vast number of people in every corner of geekery, whether or not they realize it.
So, to one of the great father's of gaming, I bid a farewell.

I found myself this evening starting to compose another letter to him, before I remembered...it still hasn't hit me as "real" yet...

They sure didn't live very long. Maybe RPGs are bad for you

This would have been Gary's 73rd Birthday if he hadn't passed away. I miss you old friend...
In case anybody was interested, Gary's Widow has been working on what will hopefully be a memorial to him in Lake Geneva, WI.

I shall drink a 40 in his honor. Or was it spill a 40? I dont know. Either way, a 40 is being bought.

Actually you should probably "Roll a d20" or something like that...
But Gary did like his booze too!
