The other day I was bashing in the Presidio basement and I ran into a group of three aberrants and a brain. Instead of running, I plopped down a shadow, turned Drinking on, and bashed my way through the whole group. At one point in the fight, I noticed my hp jumped from yellow to green in one go and I hadn't sipped/sparkle/scroll'd. So my curiosity led me to do the following test, the log of which is attached. What I wanted to find out was whether or not Regeneration from Athletics stacked with the various other regeneration effects. If you read the Help Artifacts Runes:
If I understand this note by the Admins correctly, totem spirits and Athletics regeneration count for levels of regeneration.
The Myth: Regeneration counts as a level of regen.
Results from my tests:
-Nightwraith: lvl 2 regen from Night Altar, tics for 316-317hp every 10 seconds
-Nightwraith + Tree from totems: Technically this should be a level 3 regen, it tic'd for 527hp every 10s
-Nightwraith + Regeneration: 317 every 10s, +100hp -100mp every 5-ish
-Nightwraith + Regen + Boosting: 317 ever 10s, +200hp -100mp
-Nightwraith + Regen + Boosting + Tree: 527 every 10s, +200hp - 100mp
-Nightwraith + Drink: 317hp every 10s, Shadows tic'd for 790
-Everything - Mercy: 527 every 10s, Shadows tic'd for 790, +200hp - 100mp
-Everything: 527 ever 10s, Shadows tic'd for 1106, +200hp, -100mp = total regen of 1833 in the forest, 1713 outside.
From what I can tell, Regeneration is a straight 100 trade off hp for mp. Boosting doubles the hp result to 200 while still only costing 100mp per tic. Regeneration occurs at a different time than the other regeneration effects and at a faster pace. However, I forgot to make sure that the log saved the timestamps before I closed Atlantis, so I can't be sure of how fast it tics. It definitely counts as its own kind of regeneration, though. The most 'normal' regeneration I could get was 527, which I assume is Nightwraith and Tree. For some reason, I think Mercy tics at the same rate as Shadows does, because the Shadow tic jumped from 790 to 1106 when Mercy was added.
Considering that I only have 2550-ish mp fully buffed and Surged (that was the other mana drain you saw going on), the -100mp for an extra 200hp regen doesn't seem that bad of a trade off. I know that sometimes when I'm bashing on Astral and the mobs start stacking bleeding for 150+ that clotting becomes uber important, but so far I've never been in a situation where clotting fully drained my mana, and if I drop below 1kmp, I can usually rely on my regen, spark, and scroll to keep me up while I use my sip to regain mana.
For those interested, feel free to pick over the log for any mistakes I might've made, or offer any information you know about regeneration effects.

... and you didn't know this already?
Regeneration - 100hp for 100 mana
Boosting - 200hp for 100 mana.
Both drain willpower.
All regeneration types tick at 10s intervals. TADA!

Should've asked me! (What vacation? Hmph.)
The regeneration skill doesn't add a level of regeneration, but it works on its own tick. Things that talking about "adding a level of regeneration" in the AB (or more than one) add into the racial regen levels (so the artifacts do). Other things, like mercy/perfection/beauty, all work on their own ticks with their own formula.

Yeah, I understand it now. I guess it wasn't really a 'mythbuster', just a personal experiment.
And hey! You should be proud of me for actually getting off my rump and doing the tests myself instead of just relying on other people.
Sheesh. Show a little initiative these days and everyone gets on your case

So, how does regeneration in Harmony fit into this? Does level 3 health regen from Harmony replace racial regeneration? I'm a garu specifically, so I have natural regen. I'm assuming that I don't actually get level 7 health regen from being a garu, Harmony, and Perfection. Does the harmony replace the racial and stack with Perfection?

I once was told that those bonus do not exceed lvl3, no matter if it's balance, eq, sip or herb. So I'd say you have your lvl3 racial regen and Harmony regen is pretty useless to you and you're better off with having another mantra going.
EDIT:
Apologies on Ilaveuse's behalf about the necro
Gleip2009-04-01 11:48:05
No, Harmony Regeneration stack on top of racial regeneration. I'm pretty sure about that. And mercy stacks too, so you have two level 3 regeneration ticks, and 1 mercy tick.
Unknown2009-04-01 17:20:54
Yeah, thanks Enero for the apology. Just saw some of the old threads.
Anyway, now two conflicting answers... rawr.
And even if they don't stack, three body mantras are still pretty nice. Double adroitness, sipping increase, and DMP.

It's that one. Also stacks with psionics regen from what I heard.

Huh. So I actually can have level 7 Regen. Weird. Level 8 if I was a psychomet user.

This just makes no sense what so ever...
Oh well, since I'm not really bothered, fine... you have lvl7 regen.

It comes down to the fact that harmony regen is on it's own. It doesn't count for the total, just like mercy. Pretty sure psymet works the same way.
Kiradawea2009-04-01 18:00:37
I think it makes sense through the fact that only the regeneration runes and demigod regeneration count as "racial regeneration". Harmony, Mercy and Psymet don't. They count as their own form of regeneration
Unknown2009-04-02 04:47:37
I've always wanted to know how tanky a Tae'dae/Loboshigaru monk with three body mantras and Psymet regeneration locked would be.

Now that the regen stuff has been cleared, does adroitness stack?

Yes, ooshphet, adroitness, and the sandals stack.
