Either I'm blind or I don't think my question was answered...
Just wondering... does anybody know how to change Forecast's Fahrenheit to Celsius?
Please answer or just say no idea or no you can't.

It's not a server-side option. Doesn't mean it can't be done!

Something along the lines of triggering:
^You feel the temperature around you to be about (\\d+) F\\.
And then do a #say (or some kind of echo) using the following maths: (%1 - 32) * 5 / 9

I'm kind of flabbergasted that players are allowed to keep trans trade skill items when they choose to forget the skill. If I didn't know that the admins explicitly allowed that behavior, I would be quite confident that it was an exploit. I still think it's an exploit, although if the admins allow it, obviously it technically isn't.
I am further troubled by the fact that inserting these special reward items in stockrooms at certain times can curtail decay, perhaps indefinitely (or so it seems).
My question is this: Can people amass collections of several trans trade items, or even all of them, in this way?

Yes, though the last official rule we had on this was that you're not supposed to use trade items from skillsets that your class does not have access to (that was many, many years ago at this point).
So, a non-Wiccan & non-Druid shouldn't use a philosopher's stone, etc.
If you're a Knight and FORGET KNIGHTHOOD your fullplate will actually automatically pop off and you can't put it back on, though.

Yeah, I'm also not going to lose my Prized bed if I drop artisan. Screw that.
Sylphas2010-04-16 01:49:33
Other than Fullplate, the others all do eventually decay as well. Granted, they last most of a year, IRL.

Can you customize them to nodecay/reset, or stick runes on 'em ( in the case of magi crown)??

No.
Shaddus2010-04-16 01:54:35
You can rune a magicrown. You can not perm plate, splendours, or most other trans items aside from Artisan, and we damned well deserve ours.

Well, that wasn't the answer I wanted to hear. I suppose it's rampant, then, among people who can afford it.
Trans trade skill items are clearly intended as special rewards for mastering a trade skill, yet someone can basically use them as a revolving door to collect the rewards. If they don't plan to ply the trade, they can simply get the item for half as many lessons as someone who uses the skill, forget it, and move on to the next one. That cheapens the system significantly, and the rewards, too, in my opinion.
Stockrooms are clearly intended as a courtesy to merchants, so that their items don't devalue and turn to dust while they wait to sell them. Instead (well, in addition), they are used to circumvent the decay system — circumvent a basic game mechanic — and this is allowed, for some reason.
I can only shake my head. I suppose I can live with this, probably. It is the most outrageous and disappointing thing I have heard about Lusternia thus far, and that is a shame. At least they do eventually decay... that is some consolation.

We feel your pain. It's truly a shame how people play the system. People who trans Tailoring to get splendours, then trans Jewelry for a tierstone.. those people should be shot.
Oh, wait. They buy credits, and Lusternia isn't free to run. I suppose the admin should next make every person pick one character, delete the rest, and refund the OOC credits people have put into those characters to the single character?

I wouldn't mind being able to transfer all my credits off of Xavius!
