What are the parameters of the "Now now, don't be so hasty!" message? I would like to know how quickly I can change rooms without receiving one.
Unknown2010-05-04 19:40:26
The default is two rooms per second. Certain items and abilities will add one room per second, such as the celerity from Stagform, Beastmastery Trotting, or Winged Sandals.

Okay, I must have some sort of buff from Acrobatics or the like. I just tested a speedwalk, and I can use a wait period of 35/100ths of a second between room changes without getting any hasties from the Master Ravenwood to the Naga Pit.
(Bashing speedwalks are the first ones I'm bothering to make. Since most hunting grounds on Prime are cleared out literally 90% of the time, I figured I might as well expend the least amount of effort checking.)

Acrobatics adroitness, yes.
edit: The only other one that would be available to your character with her current guild would be the Winged Sandals artifact.

S'funny, I wonder how many people remember who he is.
I want to guess! He was either:
1. The guy from the Roark event
2. A disguise the Dread Lord of Contagion used

Yeah, I'm surprised Adroitness cuts a whopping 30% off of hasty messages. That's quite a nice bonus for an Apprentice-level skill.
It's difficult to tell exactly what skills do, since not only do the majority of skills fail to mention their precise mechanical effects, they don't mention their general mechanical effects, either. You have to deduce their function from the wording.

This is, ideally, what guildmates are for! Ask them.

Nice guess but no and no.

As long as you have the tea leaves, a cook can brew tea and gain the tea benefits right?

Here's a clear, concise break down.
Brewmeisters:
-turn rawtea into the various prepared types: blacktea, greentea, etc.
-can use the prepared types to make public recipes under brews for tea
Cooks:
-can use the prepared types to make public recipes under brew for tea
-can ALSO make recipes from private cartels, which is notable since brewmeisters can never do this.

True, and I do ask them (also in threads like this one), but the precise workings of a skill are usually OOC in nature anyway. I don't see the point in omitting in-depth explanations in the game's documentation, but that's just my opinion.

Bashing grounds really aren't hunted out. My rotation from level 21 - 80 is as follows:
Tosha until about 65, but occasionally I'd get ballsy and go to the observatory.
Tosha -> Observatory (freaks can be a little iffy, so you might want to avoid those until you're a higher level) -> Mount Zoaka, and now there is a zone filled with rocs.
Continue this rotation and you're golden.
When you get a higher level head on to the Undervault.

Well, I've been doing Castle Djarrakh, the Aslaran camp, Caverns of Muhanlesh, Ruins of Shallach, and also the oozes in Glomdoring still (every corpse on Prime seems to be worth 100 gold, so hey). During peak hours, those areas are cleared out pretty much constantly, even the oozes. Heck, there are demigods and Lords of Glomdoring still doing oozes.
I will branch out to the areas you've mentioned (and also some others I've been told about) soon enough, but those five above are the ones I've learned about so far in terms of reaching them, familiarity with their layouts, knowing what to expect from the enemies there, etc. Also, I try to focus on areas that yield gold for corpse turn-ins, since I need gold just as much as I need experience at this point.

It used to annoy me that a lot of knowledge such as org/guild scrolls were all kept IG. I didn't understand why none of the guilds seem to have created their own sites like a Hatta wiki. For a project like sapling replantation this would be infinitely easier to read, edit and manage.
I think the problem is that it breaks immersion. "CHELP SAPLINGS -> Refer to tinyurl.com/abc123" is both very odd and out of place with the rest of the world and requires you to leave the game temporarily to visit another window. Finally maybe players are just lazy and the existing system works good enough.
As for skills, broad description leaves room for mystery, creativity (find novel ways to abuse things) and changes. One problem that bothers me is that you don't know what you are getting when buying a skill. To a large part you are relying on forum lore and members of your guild for sound advice. Even then it's hard to qualitatively compare say, the effectiveness of nightkiss versus trans weapon skill without trying both for yourself. Many of us can't afford to switch skills willy-nilly so even with skillflex mistakes can be expensive. A second issue is skills might shifted around (like conglut in planar used to be trans) or modified (Great Pentagram has apparently gone through several incarnations). I've gateweaved once in my entire life and never had the occasion to use GateMaster. There's always the chance that trans conglut is much superior to expert conglut but as far as I'm concerned I've basically wasted 1.1k lessons that could have gone into something more useful. If you're omnitrans as many players are then it's less of a big deal, but maybe you chose high magic based on the trans skill so a sudden nerf to GreatPent might still be a low blow.
Xavius2010-05-05 16:14:51
For what it's worth, you can forget and re-learn common skills if you don't mind the lesson loss.

I believe oozes are part of Glom's prophesy quest, and need to be done regularly for several IC days leading up to the New Moon.
Or was that scrapped when the new Rite was put in?

It's part of the prophecy quest, yes. However, I know of at least two relatively powerful people who do oozes simply because it's a quick little injection of bonus XP, 6% karma and 2,100 gold sovereigns, even if the quest has reached the "unicorn skins" phase. They're just that convenient.
I'm not knockin' it. I'm far too powerful for them as well. All I need is a CONTORT trigger, and I don't even have to heal at all; I just sit there and MinorSecond, moving occasionally as needed. The little buggers move so fast, you can get the first 15 without even changing rooms.
