What is the general canon regarding half-breeds? I know that dracnari and merian halfs aren't recognized without the ability to breathe fire or water. Does this hold true for say aslarans, or humans? If I'm a lucidian is it acceptable to assume some of the common physical characteristics of a human without codedly being one?

Always struck me as bad RP, aside from faelings/elfens.
Then again, we already have catgirls and such running around, what's another one.

They proved to be a most fertile people, able to interbreed with the other races.
Other than special cases, such as possibly faeling and elfen, generally all "half-breeds" will have some human blood in them.

I don't want to be a cat girl, just a more humanoid lucidian.

That'd be fine then, cause humans are the only race that can interbreed like that.
Unknown2010-06-04 06:42:26
You know, I wonder if half-humans can interbreed with other races, or if they should technically be infertile? You could get some crazy mixes with a few generations of that sort of thing if it was possible!

Great. Thank you both. Thought I'd get a second opinion beforehand.

....am I a horrid person for the fact that, at the mention of a more humanoid lucidian, my brain jumped through -> crossbreed -> sparkly crossbreed -> sparklez -> diamond-y humans -> ...vampires?
OLAWD.

Does it make it worse that I'm actually in the Twilight Lord's order? Thought so.
Just pretend that book never existed.

If you've founded a family, is it possible to reject that family and found another family with someone else?

Fain hates Elfen. Why doesn't he also hate faelings?
That's something I've wondered for quite some time.

Re thread necroing, it's just one of my great pet peeves - very rarely is there justification for it (as the information therein tends to be very outdated and it just leaves to confusion). Referencing the 'Avatars' thread necro, necroing a thread 'just because' bugs me even more than order affinity threads.

I am confused about aetherwill.
I know aetherwill is based upon intelligence. However, I can't for the life of me figure out why some folks barely seem to use their aetherwill whereas I burn through my aetherwill rather quickly. Is it possible that my increased proficiency would result in me using the turret more often and somehow miss out on regenerative ticks?
Yes, I have accounted for the difference in shockwaves and the like already. I can't figure out why some folks can gun forever who have the same intelligence and relatively same level as me.

Some guilds have abilities that regen their will. I don't know if that has been addressed or adjusted or whatever, but yes, some people, especially if they're in a rocking chair, with ironwill in psionics, and have the domoth blessing that helps with will, can sit there almost indefinitely.
Its why it is a much more equitable (and to my mind far better) system to base things on time and rotate fairly, rather than a "go until you can go no more, then get in line" system. Because the latter is pretty disheartening when you get a clog or two in the rotation pipe due to inexhaustable persons.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Regarding the racial stuff- it only gets to me when they get really absurd, and also shove it down your throat. Of course, that line into "really absurd" is a moving target depending on the person and individual, so I can't really complain.
I will say however, that it's always encouraging when someone just takes a standard race and RPs it really well, instead of trying to be a Tae'thoid who has cat ears, gem stone claws, and dragon wings for some reason, and is here to take it to the limit.

Is it just me, or does the aetherspace map seem very computationally expensive?
Unknown2010-06-05 01:37:32
The maps are pre-built, so it's not so bad. There's more work involved in sending the bytes over the wire than in rendering the map in memory.
