Evidently Rapture won't let you make indentations larger than a single space even when you copy/paste what you're working on. Is there any way to get around this?
1) Rapture will screw up your indentation if and only if you get past column... 72, I think. Once you do that, it'll crush all leading spaces. Stay away from that column and it'll leave it alone.
2) Many clients will screw up your indentation unless you turn off parsing. (In zMUD, using #send also gets around it even with parsing on.)
Avoid those two gotchas and you can indent as you see fit, without changing clients.

I remember that all metal designs were best when forging, but does still apply now with tempering?
Can you use powerstones for example get stuff to glow? A bit magical, pretty much?

Also wondering this. I don't make all metal designs, most times, so it's more a "will they ever be used?" question for me.
Powerstones and firegems can lend a bit of a sparkle to things, but I'd still keep it rather subdued or you risk getting it rejected, I think.

Just thinking of faintly glowing gems. Too much?

Floating furniture with glowing Institute gems!

Should be ok, with the disclaimer that I am neither a trademaster or the Charites. Slight glow, normal design. The light of the sun clinging to a bracelet in a softly glowing aura? Artifact.

Thanks to the Forging changes, you can make most everything out of non-metal comms (warrior weapons, armour and kata weapons, etc). However, until it gets envoyed, shields, polearms and such are still gonna need to be all-metal designs.

Am I the only one who would love to see Lusternia's coding?

Not me. I think it would make my head literally explode.

I'd like to see some hard numbers on various elements of the game's systems, that's for sure.
Many artifacts don't outright tell you exactly what they do. Vague descriptions don't cut it for me where significant dollar figures are involved. The manse privacy gem, for instance, is considered completely useless by pretty much everyone, but it's still for sale and you wouldn't know that from reading the description. I'm not complaining, though; at this point, all you have to do is ask about an artifact here in Simple Questions, and someone will know exactly what it does.
I'd also like to see stuff like damage values for MinorSecond, Ignite, Cosmicfire, etc., and also how much of an increase you get from lessons in the skill and parent skill... for curiosity's sake, if nothing else.
Making the game more atmospheric by keeping mechanics behind the scenes is fine, but it can be a tad annoying sometimes. Especially as a relatively new player, trying to get a sense of how a guild works from a bunch of vague descriptions can be difficult, but I suppose that preserves the mystery of it all and whatnot.

Use essence, as per HELP COMMSHOPS. (Yes, I know that's a very random helpfile you'd've never guessed to check.)

Hyperhidrosis is identical to cleanse, except it also gives you slickness.

You should look at my crowns of the Diodori. They're incredibly bright. The word "fierce" is used to describe the aura on occasion.

Regarding beast questions: Bodyguard doesn't take any health from your beast, as far as I've noticed. The abilities that use mana/ego will show that in the full AB descriptions, so just scroll through them on the wiki!
Regarding questions about mechanics and abilities: try asking anyone who's developed a full combat system. A lot of research goes into making a combat system. Of course, the ones who are better at the offense part are usually the ones who know more about the mechanics of the world.
I believe that even if you did see the code/formulas for things, it wouldn't help as much as you think. There are a lot of factors that go into each and every one: stats, defenses, abilities, weapons, etc.

How long does a planar gate woven using Gateweave in Planar last? Is that how the Tolborolla rift was created?
Lillie2010-07-11 12:20:40
I've been tossing around an idea for a Bardic which consists of the saga of a Researcher establishing a magical link between an in-realm journal and one that he has with him when he travels out-of-realm...that is, to the real world. Is that pushing the envelope a little too much, do you think?

The planar gate lasts forever, but can be destroyed (unravelled) by other players. Takes the same time to unravel as it takes to weave (I think).
The Tolborolla rift was from an event and is permanent.

Huh. Wow. Thanks!
For my planned design I'd need... 18 light essence. As a mag.
Also! Can you store essence so it doesn't decay?
