What does secondsight do? It's not a defence against blindness the way insomnia is. It causes my character to be blind the moment I log in. What does it do?

It blinds you to protect against some illusions but allows you to see at the same time. When you log out the benefit goes away so when you come back you are just plain old blind.

The reason you're blind when you log in is that affs remain on d/c but defs don't. Since secondsight requires blindness to work (the idea is that you're "seeing" not seeing) you end up qqing fine and coming back blind.

Earwort/deafness works the same way, which is even more annoying cause it's not as obvious that you're missing tells and CT/GTs. ranting.gif

Oh of course. I was comparing secondsight to insomnia, instead of earwort. That makes more sense.

You may perhaps be able to make cloaks and coats non-decay, but robes are a definite no.

Yes, put them into an artisan-made dresser.

If I can wear the dress, and get the def of the robes/cloak/coat, that would be nice.

Fooey on you: the sale would go to you anyway! Ayisdra's sure not going to buy from me. See if I advertise on your behalf again! smile.gif

Well, seriously, so many people don't know what artisan stuff even can do for them.

Of course the dresser won't work while you're wearing them, but if you log off next to it, put your clothes away when you log off, and put them back on as part of your defup, you can significantly extend the lifespan. (In other words, dressers aren't just for preserving your wedding dress.)

I know, it's not the same, but still.

X. No Tainted will be allowed into the city of New Celest without escort
by an officer of the Brigade or a member of the Star Council. Tainted
are identified as those of the Viscanti race, those of Magnagora or one
of its guilds. Willingly reincarnating into a Viscanti whilst a Citizen
of the Light is a crime. Any who do so will be cast out from their guild
and the city, as well as becoming enemied to both. Any Tainted or Undead
observed within city limits will be instructed to leave and given one
minute to do so. After this minute has passed, they will be enemied
regardless of whether they remain in the city or not. This does not
apply to novices.

How would you interpret this piece of Celestian law, specifically the very last sentence. Does the word "this" apply to the entire precept? The two sentences preceding it? Just the sentence preceding it?
Unknown2009-02-15 06:44:42
I would say, just the sentence preceding it.

Of course, I'm not a Celestian.

The sentence preceding it, while referring back to the sentence beginning with "Any Tainted or Undead observed...".
