What exactly was going through your head when that happened?
I had my first encounter with Falon after asking for help cleansing my manse of taint on the market. At first he sounded very clear and coherent but it quickly evaporated. He went from asking for 4k to find someone for the job, to rambling about nether regions.
If Celest wants to be "too busy enforcing the Light" to help, I can truss and drag him off to my manse.
He'll be my own little dweller. In case I decide to start a farm, zoo, or abnormal psychology ward.

I couldn't say no. Contrary to angry forum posts, I'm not a mean person, especially not to novices (disclaimer: mean and strict are not synonymous in this instance). He asked if I would be his mentor, I drilled him about it, asked him if he was sure, let him know I was busy a lot, and he... just wanted me to be his mentor.
As far as proteges goes, he only blips in once every 6 months to say hi and then leave again. We rarely have a conversation, much less see each other. I don't know what the point of having the character is, really.

To be a nuisance and entertain oneself at the cost of others. Or sexual education.

Mentors should really be able to un-mentor a person if they think there's going to be a conflict or they feel that they aren't suited for the job.

Talking about Falon isn't funny. I want funny in my quote's section. I demand it!
Aison2009-03-23 22:51:06
I think the reason why mentors can't reject proteges is so that if a protege buys credits three times, the person won't just go, "Oh I can't glean anymore from this!" and boot them so they don't have to deal with them anymore.
Although it would be nice.

if they made it so you could unmentor, maybe they could make it so that if the protege buys credits, the mentor can't unmentor them, kinda how if you buy credits, you can't get a new mentor

Have it throw up a big red-flag to the administration and require justification on the mentor's part.

Less random crap. More quotes.

Well, there's also the fact that a mentor rejecting a protege can turn off players to the game at the very beginning. And the Admin don't want that.

The elevator jolts very abruptly to a stop and your knees buckle, sending you sprawling.
Rahil has been beaten to a pulp by a large elevator.
A crisp voice states, "You have arrived at the staff facilities."
You stand up and stretch your arms out wide.
A crisp voice states, "Doors opening."
The metal doors on the elevator cage swing open once more.
You tell Rahil, Soldier of the Ocean, "I believe I killed you."

How do you even do that? It gives like a bazillion warnings!

I always thought that'd be a very cool way to kill someone if you're jumped in the Asylum. Fight your way to the pad and pull the lever on the way in, then hold then in place and run a second before it comes down. Don't even need to worry about setting up an offense. Just... stop them from doing anything.

Below the mushroom.
Superimposed over this location, an ethereal forest reaches up to the sky. An ornate wooden staircase leads down into this subterranean area. This chamber has been carved out of the soil itself, the roof and walls still bearing many small roots that have penetrated the soil. A large woven rug rests on the floor, a thick, soft weave that is a pleasure to stand on. Many wooden chairs rest around the room, inviting anyone who cares to sit down. Giant golden pots rest in glass display cases at every corner of the room, apparently filled to the brim with tiny gold pieces. An opulent roulette wheel lies here horizontally, tempting those with a taste for risk. With arms crossed over his pot belly, Goldie the Leprechaun stands brashly here. With dark grey eyes, a monstrous wyvern with skeletal wings prowls around here.
You see exits leading north, southwest, and up.
Arix arrives from the up.
Arix Carthan says, "If you insist."
Arix empties out Jeremiah Gryphta's Olde Tyme Healing Tonic on top of you, covering you in whiskey.
Arix leaves to the up.
You open your mouth but say nothing.
