Just curious about the 30-CR support contract.

@anyone who's purchased one: Would you say it makes a solid difference? For what kind of support do you/have you asked? Would you consider Zarquan to be helpful enough to warrant giving him 30-CR?

@Zarquan: When purchasing the support contract, do you offer any additional documentation? For example, a list of functions or toggles?
Unknown2010-07-02 01:22:42
I have no additional documentation, no. You can look through the aliases dialog to see some of what's been implemented, but I realize that includes a lot of non-interface (i.e., override) commands, too.

The basic interface is already documented on the web site and in the text files. Mostly, I help people configure the scripts to alter curing priorities, set their defenses the way they want them, or even just make aliases, triggers, and macros to do various things.

Also, keep in mind that a support contract is not a guarantee that problems will be solved any faster than normal. A few have thought that problems they reported would be fixed immediately when they had paid for support, and that's not always possible, though I do try.

Treant is basically in maintenance mode now, no new features being added, just bug fixing and adding of new messages as time allows.

It makes a huge difference. My emails are usually filled with dumb questions, and I often get a response within hours. He is incredibly patient and gives answers in simple English. Usually I end up breaking something, or I have a feature question, and I've never been turned away. I've asked for coding help here and there for simple things, and again have never been turned away. It is well worth the 30 credits.
Kio2010-07-02 17:53:56
Mr. Zarquan, you can expect 30 credits coming from me when I get paid next Thursday.

Got it all set up... and love it. I was using Eth's system, but it's very... busy. I enjoy that Treant is easy on the eyes.

Now I just have to get a few question answered about defences and the do command, but I wouldn't expect you to just give that info out.

Rock on, yo.

Ethelon's system is terrible and you should scrap it in place of Treant, not to mention I would not just Ethelon either.

Ethelon has commited a giant no-no in the past apparently where he created a trigger that would shut down the entire system by sending you a tell or something, thus destroying whatever trust I would personally have in him as a system developer. Not to mention his system falls for silly illusions like movement. Which means that if Esano used FalseVision on you to make you think you got gusted southwest, you'll immediately walk northeast into the Megalith and guards.

While Treant has its flaws, I respect and trust Larkin and his work on a much greater level than I do Ethelon.

I think I figured out how to fix my Treant, not sure, but seriously considering buying creddies and throwing some your way. Depends if I can still play - I may have to go inactive as of yet.

But I've been converted to Treant 100%. I love Mush. I'd... probably never go back to Mudlet.

Last time I checked, Treant had the same problem gust walk problem. Then again, "last time I checked" was when Esano raided Nil and I was still a productive member of Celestian society, so...

EDIT: Though now that I think about it, I may have been mistaken and it could've just been some of the people I was with falling for it. Not really sure.
Shedrin2010-07-02 20:21:22
Treant doesn't auto move you.

To each their own. Treant is pretty cool, and if I weren't the do it myself picky sort, and on linux, I would probably use that while I wrote my own stuff... as it is, I'm on linux, and running MUSH in wine hasn't worked out for me yet. I can run it in a VM, but at some point I realize I'm running an entire virtual machine for a MUD client... besides, I -really- love Mudlet.

Anyways, enough thread derailing. Treant is awesome, and a great way to get in for free on the curing system end of things.

Having used Linux and Windows, Linux is preferred. Having used Mudlet and Mush, Mush is preferred...

now to combine the two. wub.gif

But for now I'll deal, because I appreciate having Treant.

By the way, if I reinstall Treant and set it to the old script file everything should live, right?

And... using scrolls without magiclist! -flap-

Zarquan, do you need submissions for Nihilism? Can't provide much yet, but I've added a few myself that weren't covered. Can also do Necromancy / Tarot (if any) over time. Will be emailing at some point in the near future unless you tell me not to because you already have them.
Unknown2010-07-04 03:01:33
Treant already includes stuff for Necromancy, Nihilism, and Tarot.
Calixa2010-07-04 11:38:52
I saw, but there are defense lines missing (like wings and demonscales) which I had to edit in myself to get them to show up in the pretty defense list and work with the defup allias.
Unknown2010-07-04 14:49:48
If you could send me the XML for them, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
Shaddus2010-07-04 14:55:34
Ethelon's actually fixed his gust/walking antiillusion (you're quite welcome, AG users), and his tell thing isn't in there anymore, though he DOES mask his name on WHO HERE. The only problem I have with Eth's is that he has a lot of crap in it he doesn't document anymore and so there's just useless crap sitting around, like his Astrology info. Nobody knows how to use it EXCEPT FOR ETHELON.

By the way, that wasn't a shameless plug for Eth's system, because I'm pondering Treant myself.
Kio2010-07-08 23:38:19
DO EET, SHADDUS. While I enjoyed Eth's system, Treant just seems to handle things better IMO.

But still... Daj broke my Treant with Aeromancy. Sending Zarquan the log right now.

((and when I say he broke it, I mean he BROKE it. Not "it wasn't curing this," but like "ZOMG CRITICAL ERROR OF DEATH!"))
Unknown2010-07-08 23:39:12
If it's the cloud coils thing, I fixed it a while ago. I just haven't released the fix yet.
Kio2010-07-08 23:53:09
Rightio! Just to clarify, the issue was with the prompt breaking.

If that's still the fix, you can disregard my e-mail!
