Seriously considering a support contract (probably as an early Christmas gift once I get the buying credits thing sorted).

Give me your best sales pitch.

I don't have a sales pitch, except what's on my web site. There are a few testimonials buried in the 1000+ posts in this thread, if that helps.

I always heard Iasmos has AMAZING support. I know he helped when I bought some of those plugins.

1000+ posts? Heh.

Well, I like what I see. Now I gotta get me some way to buy credits other than spending the money IG that I'm saving for an eagle.

As a disclaimer, I am a horrendously bad person when it comes to code. I've had to email Iasmos over the dumbest of things, but he has always been patient with me and very speedy in his responses. The support contract is well worth it.

Unless something changes with my free time, my mood, my health, and many other factors, consider Treant freely available without further maintenance. It already has too many features in the core system, and I'm moving on to other projects now. Current support contracts and add-on purchases are still valid, of course.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to Treant and supported me in various ways.

sad.gif That's disappointing, but thank you for creating Treant and providing it free to the public for however long you did do it. Although I never used it, I do appreciate that it allowed other people to enjoy the game, start fighting, and what not.
Everiine2010-09-24 18:28:14
So, will we paid customers get a discount on your next system? tongue.gif

I'm already using my next system, as I finish adding features to it. However, it's not for you! Sorry. tongue.gif

Heh, I'd probably break the thing. Never did figure out how the mapper was supposed to work in Treant, just like you said biggrin.gif .
Ileein2010-09-24 20:42:26
Damn. =/ Us code-inept people are really going to be screwed.
Everiine2010-09-24 21:00:20
If it gets to the point where Treant gets really out of date I suppose we could go AG, but I'd rather stick with Treant now that I'm finally used to it.
Calixa2010-09-25 00:02:51
Many thanks for having provided this system for free, it's helped me a lot and got me on the way of doing some basic coding myself.
Unknown2010-10-01 02:49:37
Well, thanks for so much time and effort for a free system. Do updates stop now? Hoo boy, having to update changed/added lines and defenses ourselves... tongue.gif
Unknown2010-10-01 11:24:27
Yes, it means updates have stopped. It's not as hard as most people seem to think to add your own defenses or an affliction line here and there, though. I may be convinced to update it on rare occasion for loyal Serens that I like...
Lendren2010-10-01 11:30:25
People would realize how easy it was if you wrote directions about what needs to be done for each of those things!
Unknown2010-10-01 11:33:27
Step 1: Open any XML file in a text editor.
Step 2: Locate a trigger or alias that seems similar to what you want to make.
Step 3: Copy, paste, rename, change pattern, change script.
Step 4: /treant:Install()

If it's not self-evident where to look or what to copy/paste/change, then it is more difficult and you should leave it alone. tongue.gif
Lendren2010-10-01 12:02:51
In addition to that, defenses take several triggers. I think it is as hard as people think, but it could be made not so hard with better directions. Maybe if my to-do list clears off I might spend some time on this when I finally start using Treant and trying to get it up to date.
Mirami2010-10-01 14:33:36
I'm keeping my own copy up and running for the time being, but I don't plan on updating defenses for classes I'm not using, that sort of thing. I'll start logging my changes, though, in case I ever update enough stuff to warrant posting it somewhere.
Unknown2010-10-01 15:30:30
If anyone has ready-made XML/Lua that they'd like to see integrated into the main code, I'll be glad to merge it with my stuff and (eventually) post a new release.
