Okay, seriously. If you're going to make snarky remarks, A) read the comment (it's talking about making sure a nerf isn't stronger than it needs to be) and 2) know what you're talking about. This is not the first time.
Rika2008-12-17 15:33:51
Except he's right. All monks are OP. Some are just more OP than others. The best solution is still just to delete them.

A) I read the comment. You think that if you get a nerf on mangle, you should get conpensation.
B ) You seem to be the one denying that you can cause multiple wound while spamming mangle. Unless you haven't noticed, plenty of other people, most of them far more noted combatants than myself, are giving you the same opinions. Yeah, I'm not bothering to write out a paragraph of stuff that's already been said, and no, I've never been an envoy, or had a position in a guild, but I've watched things rise and fall in Lusternia, maybe you can just learn to deal with the fact that the monks aren't on level with everyone else? Or maybe you'd rather continue taking potshots at me?

Let's find an analogy. Knockdown is overpowered because of stun-training in groups. To compensate for this, you introduce temporary stun immunity. If it's STILL too good on its own merits, you, say, increase the wound level required. If you increase it to critical, while still fairly useful it makes what may (after the stun-training nerf) be a balanced setup very much different by removing a key component. So you do something like slightly improve the replacement medium-wound affliction.
This is not a net "upgrade."

Several are giving similar opinions, either well-thought out ones from valid positions or nearly-there ones that neglect to consider facts (or just perspectives from different angles like Synl's.) You seem to have arrived at your position from the premise of "warriors get every nerf" and failing to follow the thread/understand the subject matter properly. While that's perfectly understandable, you could at least try not to be snarky about it. Note that understanding the subject matter doesn't require being an envoy so that's no excuse.
In before "lol" and arbitrary comments about defending overpoweredness.

So, lets see...
Shofangi can mangle whore in groups and wreck somebody. And they're the "weakest" of monk specs.
Ninjarkari were designed without even a passing regard for balance and get high end warrior afflictions really easily. (Moreso since monks aren't plagued with the mechanic known as "swing", which is basically saying "take whatever your probability of the wound you want landing is, and divide it by three or so.)
Tahetso had an "I know you are but what am I" moment before Ninjakari came out and wound up with crazy willpower draining powers and such.
Nekotai were true locking people with sever spine in three rounds until the last report. Now they still lock you in three rounds, but you can get out by burning a power cure. Also, they're hard to use poisons on, and can mask their own.
...yeah, delete monks. Really.
I don't envy the envoys who are working on this crap.

Willpower drain was always there. It was more of an "anything you can do, I can do better" type of thing.
Once again I point back to action versus modifier, in which I suggested action but "why can't it be both" led to "make modifiers and stack 'em up" so here we are.

If it's not broken, don't fix it, I guess.
Being able to mangle first attack isn't broken? Seems broken to me. 250 ka for something that was supposed to be 400-500 ka? Seems a tad off. You aren't thinking about what you're saying and trying to sound smart and it's making you look stupid.
EDIT: And how are you trying to compare a 1-2 max second affliction that has a protection timer to spamming a 5 second (regen/mend) modifier.

First part is irrelevant because it has been fixed now. While I would agree that being able to lock in three rounds is retarded, it requires either 5p on the monk's part, or two separate forms... which means the normal resilience business.

If warriors could truelock for 5p in the first 10 seconds of the fight, this board would be on fire.
Unknown2008-12-17 19:34:30
Hrm, can Nekotai still truelock? I thought that severspine business had been cleared up.
Esano2008-12-17 20:49:43
The report hasn't actually been implemented yet, I believe. And even then, it will require Gedulah/Green to get out of (and they can just do it again for another 5p, woo!)

Starting momentum means absolutely nothing if you give the monk time to prepare before the fight. Just something to think about.

I thought of the friend one, I just don't like doing it. I think the clumsiness one shouldn't be possible. That defeats the purpose of momentum.

I was kind of surprised to learn that we have kai monkey ability here now. Like it wasn't bad enough with Cain and his entourage following him around in Achaea keeping him kaied up so he could pull off the mass attacks. We have our very own version here now and I hope it gets fixed before monks catch on and it becomes more proliferate.
