I assume that these take the minimum one year growth cycle before they mature? Will the mature beasts look different as normal beasts change according to their diet? -ponder- Very, very interesting.

I want a fat, winged wyrm. Or a turtle.
Reiha2008-12-18 03:57:09
I want one of these from every (applicable) guild... drool.gif

OH MY GOD FAWNS ARE SO CUUUUUUUUUUUUTE <3
Xiel2008-12-18 04:10:35
More questions! Since these beasts count as skills, do the demesne classes need to upkeep stable feeding costs? Are demesne beasts steedtrade-able? Meaning, if I get Alianna to give me a fawn, can she just summon another one for herself so I can see what awesomeness I can do with a fawn?! I'm assuming these demesne beasts will look different according to feed too. Hrm hrm.
Nydekion2008-12-18 04:17:59
Will these pets be on par with the old mage/druid mounts? Previously, mounts acted like an instantly summonable legendary steed that required no upkeep and could be resummoned ad naseum (pretty much worth a collar of the beastmasters). Will these new pets be equivalent to that as well? Or maybe have that ability only when the requisite guild skill has been learned?

I dislike that this eliminates the entire skill unless you bother to spend 700 more lessons in beastmastery just to get the minor breathe deal.

And the turtle. Please tell me that their breath attack is not fire damage.

As you gain the beast orders within your existing mount summoning ability you should be able to use them without actually having beast mastery.

Considering the stag ability to toss into trees doesn't exist in beast mastery, or does it? chin.gif
Furien2008-12-18 04:45:10
I figured they'd be usable without the compatible beastmastery skill, but I guess I could be wrong.
Rika2008-12-18 04:45:33
I thought you didn't need the skills in beastmastery to use their special skills?
Furien2008-12-18 04:46:53

Syntax: BEAST ORDER TREETOSS
Beast Mana: 250
This is a unique attack that will toss a target into a tree (assuming there are
trees around).

Syntax: BEAST ORDER HEAL HEALTH
Beast Ego: 500
Your stag can tap into its reserves and channel those energies into you. This is
the same as the Beastmastery skill except stags have a stronger ability to heal.
Note that you do not need the Beastmastery skill so long as you have the druidry
skill of totem and the Stag specialization.

You can't trade these special beasts or have more than one. If you find a loophole where you can, please let us know!

You don't need the Beastmastery skillset to use their special inherent powers. However, you really do need to train them to be mounts per Beastmastery for waterglide and burrow powers (but basic riding is 0 lessons in Beastmastery).

Are they still the generic descriptions they were before, or do they have varied?

Is it possible to give mage/druid mounts some limited form of retraining? Right now, if you want to change what your mounts knows that's a week or two of OOC work killing off the old one and training up a new wyrm, plus the dubious RP of a hartstone or blacktalon killing off their special crow/fawn.

Maybe trying to resummon could do that?

Awesome. Good stuff, then.

Guess you'll find out soon enough! cool.gif

Something tells me it's varied! wink.gif

Not sure if it's been missed, but will these new pets be resummonable by recasting the spell like the old type? One of the major benefits before was the ability to instantly call your mount back for 1p (on the correct plane) if it died. It'd represent a significant downgrade to the lifetime of a beast if it took a rl hour for one to be resummoned and required upkeep to stay alive.

so make feeding optional for them? (still have to feed and the like so they can get the regents and the totem skill could reset them for you)

With a collar this would make them almost credit pets but still not
