4. Druids have more passive afflictions than Bards. It stacks better as a result.
Druids are not the only people with the skill.
I would also argue the afflictions being superior.
Narsrim2009-01-14 02:59:15
Which of those afflictions would not be worthwhile for a Serenguard?
Narsrim2009-01-14 03:00:44
As I said, I think it's silly Ancestral Curse does not hit targets in trees. With this small change, I see it as being a very worthwhile skill.
Gregori2009-01-14 03:10:25
1. Bards can't sap.
- Druids are not always in trees/somewhere they can sap. I have used the skill far more often in aquemenses of late than druid.
2. Unlike Maelstrom, Ancestral Curse cannot be canceled. Any Illusionist can dispel a colourmaelstrom for 0p. Any person with critique can end it as well for 8p.
- You can just leave the room and the cost difference is enough that you won't see someone laying down to many extra curses, compared to the ability to lay down a few extra maelstroms
3. The affliction list for Ancestral Curse is superior to that of colourmaelstrom.
- Already commented on. Though I will say I never once said "not worthwhile" I said "not superior", subtle distinction, but I am a stickler.

You attempt to puncture Urazial's aura, but the aura's lack of consciousness thwarts you.
That message implies that Urazial was asleep when you tried to puncture. I could not see it in the log where he was asleep between him attacking, you trying that and him attacking. I imagine he was shrouded and you may have some of the log

I do want to take a moment and disagree with a recent envoy suggestion. Ancestral Curse is niiiiiiiiiiice. It gives awesome afflictions (Impatience, Addiction, Hypochondria, Paranoia, and Reckless) and lasts -5- minutes. It may cost 8p, but 8p every 5 minutes for those afflictions is totally worth it. I do agree, however, it should work on targets in trees (but the power cost is fine).
I really don't think that's all it gives. Off the top of my head, it can give anorexia I believe. Though, I saw it give this affliction a while back, while Krellan was still in Serenwilde, Gregori keeps saying it hasn't been touched since beta, so I would imagine it still does.
@Esano that part is the mote working, however jittering motes are epilepsy and not the narcolepsy/empowered punctured attack Gregori meant.
Unknown2009-01-14 08:17:06
The 'anorexia' you saw was hypochondria, because ancenstracurse doesn't give anorexia affliction.
It only gives those 5 afflictions which Narsrim stated.

Krellan2009-01-14 08:32:57
It was diagnosed anorexia. I admit I could be wrong, but I mean I'm not sure how I could have. I wasn't the one being afflicted. It was a fight between Akui SG Stag at the time and someone. I watched by diagnosing both players. I later asked how she managed to give anorexia to the opponent as SG can't do that with weapons. She said it was ancestral curse, which is why she used it in the first place.
Unknown2009-01-14 08:47:42
Weird.
Then ancestralcurse must have a freakish 1% chance to do anorexia.

Narsrim missed one affliction, but it's not anorexia.

Also, what's with the million variations on 'vs' lately? We've had 'vrs.' and now 'v.s' (guess that's okay but strange extraneous period?!)?

I'm pretty sure this happened because the target had blackout and he tried to puncture.
EDIT: I believe empowered puncture was added to allow you to flick two motes in one puncture like old Mugwumps could. If you used an empowered puncture, on full balance recovery you should be able to flick again before the punctured aura is cured. Also noticed that deepsleep wasn't used. While it takes 3p per use, I think its a fairly powerful skill as falling asleep from both exhaustion and narcolepsy is nasty. If he didn't use metawake and you somehow managed to deepsleep right after he passed out, both insomnia and kafe would be out of the way. The suggestion for using sleepmist would have been good too. Of course I used to love attrition fighting and that's just my opinion.

Yeah I envoyed the empowered puncture a while back so the dreamweaver had a chance to get in two motes before aura came back, assuming reishi was used to cure.
The problem is he got his aura back while still in blackout. Then when I tried to narcolepsy again I couldn't puncture, because some reason you can't puncture in blackout.
I didn't think of the deepsleep to be honest. I am not used to using it outside of dreamform so never remember it.
As for the mist, it has been added to my alias/macro list.
@Narsrim: Thanks for the tip in the message. Tested it with Xiel, and will try and make use of it more.

It is actually supposed to be 'vs.'
The period is not errant it is just typoed and I couldn't go back and fix the title of the topic.
