Another Pet Peeve: People who think because they don't want kids, nobody should have kids. In fact, they think kids are so terrible they hand out condoms and birth control samples. And lists of "Things you can do if you never have kids." They don't advocate "don't have kids now". They advocate "NEVER HAVE CHILDREN"!

Dammit, if it's my dream to have kids one day, let it be my dream. explode.gif

I love kids. wub.gif

So far all the people I know who love kids (not that way Casi!) don't live in the US. sad.gif

To be fair, they said "New England and California". happy.gif

Never mentioned anything about Oregon, but Washington state used pop when I was visiting. Which would fit in the "West" category.

Huh..everyone I've met in WA has called it either soda. A couple friends and family members call every soda coke though cause they're insane and swear by that masochistic drink.

EDIT:

I found another pet peeve this weekend while working. People who speak all that MTV/Rapper talk ("yoyo", "home dawg", etc.) even in a business environment. I do not know why it irks me so, but it is VERY irritating to me and makes me cringe almost as much as when they say "That's funner" so.

As a sidenote, you guys reminded me of something that happened in a diner. New Yorkers (from New York City) are very stubborn people. Trust me, I know this, I am one. So when this woman with her husband (presumably) asked for pop, the waiter pointed out to them how to manipulate the jukebox at their table. When they kept insisting for pop, he got frustrated and used his own fifty cents to put Britney Spears on for them. After they STILL asked for pop, he said, "DAMMIT! I GAVE YOU BRITNEY SPEARS! IT'S POP! CALL FOR ME WHEN YOU KNOW WHAT YOU WANT FOR A DRINK!".

The couple ended up leaving. Because I'm a horrible person, I just laughed at the whole situation.

And now that I've clarified my thoughts, that is a pet peeve of my own.

I think I want to be a childcare teacher. However, there is still so much prejudice about this, that I'm seriously reconsidering it. Apparently, being a guy means that you are automatically less desirable for being a childcare teacher. Even when I mention this to my friends, they make jokes about paedophiles and such. I know that they're joking, but it hurts because it merely reinforces the fact that people still associate guys that love kids as paedophiles. I know its not intentional, nor is it directed at me, but still, I really don't know what to do about this. People talk about gender equality and think of women. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for gender equality, but sometimes I just wish that gender equality was more... equal in helping both genders.

If it's your dream to be a childcare teacher (you'd know it better than I would), I'd say go for it. I used to want to be a childcare teacher, but my friends at the time made too many baby-snatching jokes and I ended up ditching it. Though I really would love teaching kindergarten...

It's a small religious movement stemming from a phrase in the Bible that basically says you should "keep your quiver full for God", i.e. women should have more than five children so as to build "God's Army", and basically be walking, talking baby factories. Girls are brought up to believe that their only value is in this pursuit, they're often discouraged or forbidden from attending college, and are taught instead to be "good, submissive wives and mothers for the lord." There's also a lot of stuff about dressing modestly, which seems to mean you're supposed to look like the women in a Prairie Reenactment costume catalog.

Well, other-Noola, I find your brief description draws me in. I did some brief research.

OH GOD HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Yeah, I thought this was a joke. I wish I was right.

I think if people want to have a bunch of kids, more power to them, so long as they are responsible and can care for them. My dad was the youngest of 9 children, and he turned out just fine. I'm the middle of only 3 children, and kind of like that. I want to be a father someday, but I don't want more than 2-3 kids. I could never be a childcare provider or a teacher. I can NOT handle children in large amounts. They make me want to go ape censor.gif . But 2 or 3 is fine.
