Rubble song that doesn't actually stack with rubble (fall tarot, geomancers) for some reason.

How about a master plague, that works like jinx? An incurable affliction until all diseases/plagues/sickness have been cured?
Spreading plagues sounds nice in groups definitely, but it wouldn't do anything for 1-on-1 combat.

Affs that I think could be caused as the disease progessess, in ascending severity, which could tic regularly as "symptoms"?
Winding
Nausea
Weakness
(insermidlevel affs here)
Burst Vessels.
Clots.
Paranoia.
Narcolepsy.
Punctured Nerves(disease breaking the neural system)
An Aeon Style affliction perhaps? Stackable with normal Aeon if you want some complaining.
Incredibly heavy endurance and willpower drain.
Mana Drain. (Barbs would make this hurt)
Ego Drain. (Vice would make this hurt)
Basically all that nasty stuff that diseases can cause which would make fighting awful.

In a game that, as I understand, is balanced around group PK, I don't know if that's such a bad thing. The obvious explanation is to make the song do something else along with spreading diseases, and give it a power cost and mid/high stanza.

It would be nice if we could also change the flavour of the skills to reinforce the plague theme (and with this I mean removing all mentions of the Demon Lords and or Nil on the descriptions and put something more fitting instead.)

The current Plague afflictions are as follows:
Scabies: Balance loss on a random timer. Apply Liniment
Epilepsy: Balance loss on a random timer. Eat Kombu, focus mind.
Pox: 200ish damage on a Random timer. Timed anywhere from 30 to 4 seconds between each tic. Apply liniment.
Worms: Prevents eating food. Drink melancholic.
Rogormortis: Breaks a random limb. Timed anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds between each limb. Eat Marjoram.
As you can see, Plague afflictions don't really do much.

They all seem to be random. How something that makes it non-random? A song effect or affliction? Even then, doesn't seem to be doing much either.
How about an effect that generates a plague cloud around you, passively infecting your enemies with those afflictions, but making those particular afflictions uncurable except by time? The two balance loss affliction sound like they might be useful if incurable.
Maybe, to offset the randomness, when they're afflicted, they get hit by its effect?

So let's make them play a larger role, because I also really enjoy the plague idea. Get some noxious cloud in there and whatnot.

Proof why I advocate a song that increases their effect somehow.

As far as epilepsy and scabies not doing much, I highly disagree.
They may not cause 1000+ damage to your target, but they sure as heck hinder them if it ticks. Contagion from lich can also help with sticking these.

Maybe I'm confusing the effect of epilepsy and, theoretically, scabies with something else. I've never had issues with partial equilibrium loss at staggered periods that are easily manageable. As there have been admissions that you guys only know so much, I'd like to get it out there that they do kind of suck a little. Ask an experienced fighter in, on a one on one or even a group fight, the reason they died was epilepsy or scabies and you will get a resounding 'no', I think.
Estarra2009-02-05 05:53:13
I note that there are songs that synergize with plagues: BlackDeath makes the afflictions harder to cure (i.e., chance curing a plague affliction fails plus uses up herb balance). CarillionKnell makes plague afflictions drain health, mana and ego. It would be easy enough to tweak increasing the odds of BlackDeath or increasing the damage of CarillionKnell. I'm not adverse to adding new plague afflictions (though keep in mind how they're impacted by BlackDeath and CarillionKnell!). These are simple envoy report changes, no?

While scabies and epilepsy are the best of the afflictions, by themselves, they are not much.
The eq/balance loss is actually quite short per tic. It's on a completely random timer so it can literally go dormant for 20+ seconds and then fire up again. It's incredibly unreliable, and as you said, that's if it tics before they cure them, which we have no way of preventing. Additionally, you only have a 2 in 5 chance every 10 seconds to get scabies or epilepsy, if they are deaf.
Scabies is dangerous in the hands of a Nihilist, but a Nihilist has access to active scabies, ectoplasm, and crucify.
I'd be happy to show you on the test server that the full wrath of our affliction spam is nothing to worry about.
It should also be compared to faeditty and whatever the Harbinger song is that knocks off eq/balance every 10 seconds, and only requires no deafness.

I believe BlackDeath is intended to address this. Doesn't it have a % chance of blocking the heal and takes the healing balance used?

In theory that's how BlackDeath works, but it still doesn't outpace curing balance, especially with earwort up. This goes back to how the plague afflictions really aren't that great, though.
CarillonKnell just drains health:

They arent notably that powerful to begin with so keeping them tends to be negligible, only scabies and epi is worth something and epi is curable with focus mind.

No it doesnt..... just health damage last time I checked.

If it was simple it would be envoyed sometime recently, it hasnt so that should conclude that its not simple no.

Blackdeath means you cure the affliction, and there is a chance it comes back a few seconds later.
Carillonknell only drains health. No mana or ego. Estwald and I have both posted examples of the scaling damage, but it's only health. Additionally, the damage was tweaked last envoy report, it's still pretty low.
We have been tossing around adding and replacing plague afflictions, but it's a band aid. We don't believe it'll solve the core issue that some plague afflictions (pox, worms) are pointless afflictions and others (scabies/epilepsy) are only marginally better.
edit: I reference you to my dear friend Ceren concerning Plague afflictions:
(Jhagar): Ceren says, "Plague afflictions are good. With Necromancy."
(Jhagar): Ceren says, "With any other skillset there's no point."
(Jhagar): Ceren says, "If Cacophony had crucify I could see it."
(Jhagar): Ceren says, "But otherwise it's just dumb."
(Jhagar): Ceren says, "The whole point of plague affs is to stick crucify and break limbs for sacrifice."
I think I mentioned this somewhere on the envoy thread.
