Is there anyone with a free cartel slot for a beauty seal submission? I don't care what cartel, I can remake it to be used in most crafts. I just want a shot at winning the seal.
Aramel2009-02-02 00:32:51
Same, I don't want to buy a private cartel just to submit something.
Unknown2009-02-06 17:11:23
Umm, I haven't seen this explicitly stated anywhere, but can a cartel enter a private design that's listed under another cartel?
Fionn2009-02-06 18:14:40
My private cooking cartel doesn't have anything to submit, or nothing I feel like submitting. If you can somehow make your amorphous design into a cake or something and point me out how to submit it, let me know!
Kiradawea2009-02-06 21:35:58
Turn into a cake. Got it. Thanks.

So..Question...I wanted to make a Beauty submission, and in this submission, it has gods. Some who are dormant, and some who aren't. I'm assuming I have to get permission for the actual gods who are active, do I have to get some sort of permission for the ones who are dormant? And from who? I'm trying to keep this really vague, anonymity, and all.

Active gods I know that you have to, but I don't think for dormant ones. Because if they're dormant, they're not really going to respond at all to your request.
Gwylifar2009-02-12 19:23:35
Why would you need permission, though? Who's going to stop you from carving a likeness into your jewelry? Maybe they'll come thump you later if they don't like how you depicted them, but that's after you've made it -- which is all Beauty requires.
Enero2009-02-12 19:30:23
Hmmm, I think I agree with Gwylifar on this one. I know that you must have the permission of the Divine to use their symbol in your designs, but I don't think the same applies if you want to depict them.
Though I would still issue myself and ask to be completely certain.

I created a tapestry depicting Fain, Terentia, Elostian, and Morgfyre together, and didn't ask permission.
I think that's mostly if it's an "order" item, or it's supposed to represent that divine. Usually it's polite to ask, but if it merely shows them, I think it's fine.

Fania2009-02-12 22:17:41
Yeah, I totally didn't know you were suppose to ask the Divine first, or I would have before I submitted my design.
Fania2009-02-12 22:20:29
Oh yeah... the Divine are judging the Seal entries, right? So if you say I'm going to depict such and such person, then wont they know what design is yours? I thought the designs submitted were supposed to be kept somewhat quiet, but I don't remember the specifics of the rules.
Unknown2009-02-13 02:15:47
It's mostly "Don't let the judges see it before the judging and don't let them know which one you did."
Eventru2009-02-13 03:25:04
If you send Eventru a message asking, 'May I use Your symbol/likeness in a design I'm making for the Beauty Seal?', that's all that's really necessary. Though if it comes out to be some major slam at Eventru, don't be too surprised if you find yourself on the wrong end of a righteous fury.
Normally though, it's considered polite to ask a divine to use Their symbol in a design. Oft times if permission isn't granted, the design will be rejected until it is granted.

Is that considered OOC? Cause otherwise I'm gonna get pissy about it stifling creativity.

Nope, I messaged a god about my design.

Since we are using Lord Eventru as an example. Suppose I'm in Lord Eventru's order and want to do a design for the Seal of Beauty contest. I get it all cleared with him and submit it to the contest, then it turns out that I'm the only person who submitted a design bearing Lord Eventu's likeness. Lord Eventru would then know who submitted the design and it would be basically the same thing as showing him the design directly (except for the fact I didn't know my design was the only one like that.)

So if our design has been approved an everything (even though we haven't asked) are we okay? I didn't find out about this until my design was already signed, sealed and delivered to the Charities. I kind of think that it would almost be a mute point messaging the Divine now (no it's not offensive material), but I would really like to not get shrubbed or anything.
kiriwe2009-02-13 21:21:53
I highly doubt you will get shrubbed for submitting a design with a Divine in it. I think shrubbing is reserved for OOC punishments. At the worst, you'll get maggoted, or Disfavoured.

I know I wont get shrubbed, but I don't want to get maggoted or disfavoured. I think either would be a bit extreme considering I didn't know you had to ask the Divine first. I'm not opposed to asking the Divine now, but it wouldn't really be asking them because it's already done.

I'm excited. It wont be long until they announce the winners!
