Fisher was a joke... As was lava, somewhat. I know that I got burnt and pony vanished (couldn't whistle him). Sorry, I'll try to be more literal. sad.gif

Ah. I figured the fisher thing was a joke but with the lava thing I wasn't so sure. About the lava vanishing, I think there's a bug the details of which I shouldn't explain here even if I knew them...but did you check the stables?

Err, I'll do the breakdown...

Pony 1: Took it out of stable after incubation. It was starving, died before I could type OUTR FRUIT, BEAST FILL FEEDBAG etc.
Pony 2: Didn't realize I needed to pay stable fees for right after the incubation. Pony matured/starved in stables/died while I was asleep.
Pony 3: This one lasted a few days, but went to bed, came back, same thing as 1.
Pony 4: Lost connection. Came back to dead pony. I am assuming starvation was the culprit.
Pony 5: Ran into lava. Pony followed. Pony burnt. Pony dead. sad.gif
Pony 6: Died in Nature challenge, completely forgot about pony in the chaos for the seal and never whistled him back. I assume he made a nice dinner for some cave fisher.
Pony 7: This little guy starved to death while I was writing a news post. Best part? His feedbag was 3/4 full. Equine anorexia?

So, yeah. I honestly can't get a pony up to even level 2 before it dies. And I've taken them hunting/influencing - is there some training I need to give them for them to get xp from me? Half an hour of influencings with pony following didn't net even one level for the nag. :/

Right, so here's the plan.
1. Incubate
2. Pay stable fees for 36 months
3. After reincarnation take the beast out and fill the bag.
4. Make a trigger to outr feed and fill bag when the day changes.
5. Make sure the beast is following you and take it to bash/influence
6. Make QQ and alias that does beast dismiss and qq's only then

I've only lost two ponies so far to starvation. Thanks Sadhyra! wub.gif I feel better now!

Despite her obvious vain attitude, I can't help but wub.gif her. I could never let her die to starvation! She turned out pretty nicely. Though I need my wyvern/mammoth to grow up masculine to make up for the lack of it with my pony.

Heh, I hope so. I have yet to see a beast except the Wyverns that outdoes the coolness and usefulness of my hunting companion. Even the mammoths I see are pretty frilly.
Ashteru2009-02-11 15:40:29
But who needs manly beasts when he has a masculine name like Everiine, amirite.

Err, thought you could only pay for 12 months in advance?

No, you can buy up to three IG years at once.

Good to know, once I get a horse lasting more than a month.

On another note, I think beastmastery trample is being looked into. When I left for work, it seemed some changes were already decided on.

I think web is OP without the arti-option of web boots. Combining the passive ability to web with instakills (as well as momentum killing) seems pretty nuts.

Then I shall make it my duty, to hunt you down, and kill your horsies. *salute*

*eye*

1. It won't starve to death as soon as you take it out the stable after incubation, unless you somehow manage to pull it out 20s before the day changes. In that case, check TIME before you take the beast out of the stable.
2. Pay for 36 months advance.
3. If you can't keep your pony fed, STABLE HOUSE beast# and don't add FEED. That way it won't eat from its own feedbag while in the stable, and when you take it out, it won't die.
4. As soon as it is done incubating, feed it (make a trigger or alias), then take it out influencing and bashing and get it up to at least level 5. That way if you get careless and it dies, it won't go away permanently.

Or the other option: Give up. You can't raise a pony. You're a monster. A pony-killing monster.

I bet she wears fur coat as well. Let's call PETA already and be done with it!

We're reviewing trample with the envoys so you may want to touch base with them. I will note that all skills in Beastmastery should be on beast balance and never use player balance, so that's the baseline by which we'll be reviewing skills.

I'm surprised there's any concern with sleepmist as it wasn't even addressed on the envoy report. Likewise, we took the only suggestion made on web (increase the mana cost) and there weren't any adverse comments otherwise on it. Regarding poison, we were slightly surprised to see that skill suggestion but, again, there were no adverse comments by envoys on it so we assumed it was something universally approved.

Concerning beasts dying, there were some very early bugs which may have made beasts go hungry faster but those should have been resolved long ago. If there are more bugs regarding beasts dying, we'd need enough information to track them down. Barring any bugs, I think keeping your beasts alive should be manageable.
Noola2009-02-11 22:22:54
Oh, my bad luck with ponies is totally my own fault. I fully admit that. Ponies are just bad luck for me! But I'm gonna try again! laugh.gif

The Beastmastery report was a total failure. We know. sad.gif

I think that's a bit harsh. We seemed to implement a lot of suggestions and tweaks. Note that trample wasn't on the report but was part of our overall review to make sure everything is on beast balance.

Oh, you did fine. I mean the report itself was lacking. Several envoys I talked to apparently didn't even know some of things on the report were there in the form that they were.
