switching archtypes

Well, as the little description says, I have gotten bored with being a monk since I've been doing it for a year and can't really switch specs anymore. (It would be too much of a pain to get into any of those guilds, except maybe Tahtetso again.) Basically, I'm stuck in Serenwilde, maybe Celest if I can pull some strings and kinda wanted advice on what to switch to. Anything except warrior would require yet another fun, fun race change. I could likely get the credits for whatever change I want to make in a few weeks or maybe a month or two at most, but was hoping for suggestions for something else from the forums. Basically, I'm open to anything except Mage or Druid. No more melds... never again. Anyway, I'm fairly open to suggestions and hopefully find something that could entertain me for a while. freaked.gif

Your current race is fine for warrior. Loboshigaru make excellent warriors, great strength dexterity and constitution, the mana is ok and can be offset with knowledge karma blessing, the resists are awesome but magic damage will own you to an extent.

If you dont want to go warrior you can go MD hexen for a fun and powerful Pk archtype, SS are great as well, and if you choose to go to Celest instead, Celestines are OP but boring and Cantors w/tarot is interesting and great for 1 on 1 but super squishy in groups due to lack of illusoryself.

My thought about magic damage was to try to get drawdown if I went that route for some of that sweet, sweet magic damage reduction.

Go Skyclad. Definitely.

Drawdown, as far as I'm aware, doesn't give magic damage reduction. Taking on the Moon's aura will afford you mana regeneration, increased intelligence and some protection against damage. Not sure whether damage includes both physical and magical.

Moondance Aura gives 14 dmp against magical attacks.

Drawdown gives EVERYTHING damage reduction. Significant amounts of it.

Drawdown is 24 DMP to all damage types.

Gosh that sounds nifty.

How much is a level 1 (or 2) susceptibility to magic worth?

From what I've been told, about +20%. (For level 2)
Rodngar2009-02-12 08:41:48
I was told it is 7% here. tongue.gif

You are doing it wrong. You are supposed to change -after- they get nerfed. You still got another month or so left. Get broken. Whore those moves that you know are OP and just make people cry. THEN CHANGE. Don't let us down.

Don't lump everyone in with those OP tarot users. Utility skills for Astrology and Healing!

From the shoulder-reading I've done, Moondancers seem incredibly fun. In Celest, Cantors need all the help they can get to put some life into the guild, and you get to bug Renny all the time since you're in the same city. Of course, the low int and cha will hurt if you're going to be a bard anywhere, so I will suggest MD or Celestine. Loboshigaru is a great race for Celestines since you can tank out Inquisition.

I don't even feel like I should put a wholehearted come2glom here. sad.gif

SG would probably cost you less credits to switch unless you factor in artefact runes and or forging. Were that not a concern, SS. Though a couple more competent hexen would be nice.

I think 7% was only for the good stuff (eq and bal), rest of the stuff was left at 10%.

Both Moondancers and Celestines wouldn't be that bad for a Lobo, I recall quite a few people playing around with Lobo and even Taurian Celestines before the speed nerfs and now, since the INT matters even less you're PvE won't be greatly crippled by the race (though it will still suck, heh),

As for magic protection, Moonies will give you more, but it's still possible to almost negate the penalty by wearing magic proofed robes, having angelic aura and magic damage reduction from Benediction. Not really sure how that adds up.

Only thing you really don't want to do (and you already said you don't) is to go druid or mage, especially mage. Credit cost for warrior/monk --> mage/druid change is sick, sick, sick. (although I imagine it's not THAT much if you go druid, which you won't as you've said)

Actually, Thoros just typo'ed... What he meant to write was:

Maybe that's because it was slightly amusing the first couple of times when you originally started making posts like that. Now, when everyone and their mother thinks they're gonna be so damn cool and even cooler if they make it size 72 with colours... it turns out, at the very best, to be lame confused.gif

It's like 150 credits all in all to go from monk to warrior.
Kiradawea2009-02-12 10:57:06
Celestines are OK. Tarot is still OP though. Why can't Healing or Astrology have neat stuff like Teacher, Empress or Hermit? sad.gif
