Griefer.
Just kidding! Don't delete me?

Maybe it is time to remove them. No matter what any side does, the bulk of players will complain about feeling obligated to defend/defending in general, complain about losing their s-mobs and the related downsides. Perhaps it would help. With nothing to defend, alliances aren't so necessary and players will have to create their own brand of conflict, which would center mostly around raiding without reward (power).
Edit: Just know that if they're removed, you're going to get the conflict-quest brigade on your back Estarra, whining about the lack of them. Can't please anyone!

Edited slightly so I can agree to it.
I like conflict. I enjoy conflict. Just make it not so easy to keep one organization down.

My observation is kind of an extension of this...
The whole "Players should harden up" point hasn't happened after how many years of Lusternia's life now? It's not likely to ever happen. Some players will, in fact, harden up. Some won't. However, since the game keeps getting new players, the ratio doesn't really change... old players drift away for whatever reason, new ones come, and the playerbase as a whole remains the same.
It's really easy to say that players should harden up, but at some point you need to take a look at the playerbase and realize it doesn't seem likely.

I don't mind raiding with a power reward. However, it is the conflict quest of killing the demons/supernals/avatars and having to raise them that seems to cause the most grief. Our aim has always been that it would be a relatively rare occurrence (and not weekly!).

Then make the Smobs harder to kill? Instead of one or two people being able to come in, kick them, then leave, make it so they have to have a decent size group to kill them. As it is, they are waay easy to kill, from what I've seen.

Oi!! Is that really true? We've upgraded them so many times already.

What your upgrades achieved is to make it require more people to kill them. If you have enough, they go down in something like a minute, before anyone can get there or react (well, for the first one - subsequent ones become harder due to liveforest/possible coordination from defenders.) If you don't, you wipe horribly.

With enough people in the room they're really not that bad, I think. Can kill them with no losses at all, due to the way they're coded (even with a lot of near-newbie bodies in the room).
However, I really don't think that continually buffing them over and over is going to help. The only way it will is once they're too tough to actually kill, at which point... uh... you've killed the conflict quest anyways. As long as they're killable, they're at the mercy of the playerbase.

What the....?? It takes 20+ people to kill these things. There is no 1 or 2 people doing it.
@Estarra No that is not true. IN fact the Glom Avatars just wiped out a Seren/Celest group the other day on a raid.

...what?
The Smobs are hard to kill. It took a sizable group of us to take the Demon Lords down yesterday, and we didn't manage to take down a Night Avatar. Shame on us for just being survivable?
Daganev2009-03-06 02:09:13
I'd like to see the option on the poll for the quests to be tweaked, but kept.

Third options usually just split the vote. The wording of the poll is to keep the quests "as-is" which infers they could be tweaked instead.
Kelysa2009-03-06 02:11:21
er nm. Buuut. I like conflict quests. Things are less fun without consequences on both sides.

then explain to me Narsrim's one-man raids on the Crow Aspects.
Maybe I'm confusing things in my mind.

Ah, those aren't considered the commune's avatar mobs. Only the dog, the dwarf and the sidhe on the ethereal plane.

yeesh, Sorry. When I hear smob, I think mobs important to an org. Not one group over another. Sorry if I'm misinformed. *backs away slowly*
