If that's how you choose to read what I said. I'm just going to assume the LoR drama is making you unreasonably pissy though.
Nope, forging not being even glanced at is an issue I have. While you might not find that it should be fixed soon, I do since it's a trade skill and I put 700 credits into it. I figure my investment should be worth while.
Simimi2009-04-07 05:21:30
Gero, go play with stealth, it is mad fun. You'll forget all about how plate got nerfed the day after you became Paladin, got a mallet, and transed forging, spending your long horded 700 credits. Or well, I do

See, I didn't say it wasn't an issue. I said ranting just because lusternia developed in other ways in a thread about fixing forging is not productive. Leave it in the Idiots! section of the forums
I guess I don't rant about it as much because I only put 600 credits into it . Not including the forging cartel, which I don't count when it comes to forging woes.
Isuka2009-04-07 16:53:55
I have to do everything without a forging mallet, because I can't afford another $140 invested in the game for one item at this time. Hence I complain the loudest when I'm in the middle of 150 of forging for dual-wield items.
Isuka2009-04-09 16:46:32
Yeah, so I refuse to let this die.
Lets get some kind of response to this, please. I've spent the last three days solid (essentially not logging off at all, and doing nothing but forging) going for an axe that really isn't unreasonable. I missed both Battlechess games because of this, and plenty of raids.
Someone less jaded post an idea!
Edit: To help make my point:
This Week : 2 days, 11 hours, and 21 minutes
all forging.

What axe are you going for. I can help if you want.
Isuka2009-04-09 19:18:55
140/x/280 klangaxe. Just not having any luck hitting it.
Unknown2009-04-09 19:39:28
That's... actually kinda tough. Especially without a mallet. I'll see if I can get one later.

Shouldn't be -that- tough. I see the damage on the klangaxe hit high 160s, so 140 shouldn't be out of the question.
Granted, doing basically -any- quality forging without a mallet is near impossible anyways. Which I still think is garbage. Artifact shouldn't be a required item, and it essentially is.

It's not. you just have to invest more time because forgers with the mallet go 4x as fast. Even so, the RNG still hates our collective souls. I suppose the Mallet also flattens out the distribution curve a little, but eh... ask Caedryn about that, I don't have all the data (though I could easily get it).
Okay, so I guess I just proved your point. Whee. But the point remains that even -with- a mallet, I spent RL weeks of nonstop forging to get my plate (93/90).
Unknown2009-04-10 04:58:38
Getting 140+ damage is not hard sure, but you're going for absolute perfect speed too. I've only made four that matches your requirements since I've started recording what I make, out of 11000+ katana/klangaxe records (288 of them having 280 speed, 1734 of them having 140+ damage)
Isuka2009-04-10 05:12:10
heh, guess I'm in for a lot more of this. I'm up to
This Week : 2 days, 20 hours, and 58 minutes
now.

Ah the joys horrors of forging again. Really, I understand their is a substanical amount of work involved in recoding forging, and I understand that you believe changing how forging works will devalue it. However when the entire player base who uses forging hates the way it works, you have a problem.
Fix forging, really. While we're on the topic of it, I don't like the way no non-metal comms can be used to forge a real item, because of the ridiculous amount of reforgings required would make your item cost millions. This really limits forging designs. Also the RP aspect of it is complete BS, I'm a transcendent forger with a mallet, and I can't craft a decent weapon without reforging it a thousand times?
Like I was saying I understand the rewriting a forging script may be tough, but hey it's your job. You get paid to make the game better, and to keep players happy. Forging isn't keeping people happy, in fact it just aggravates. As for devaluing forging, you can write it anyways you want. You can actually make it so it doesn't devalue forging, if you need ideas how, you have a whole player base to turn to for help.
So please, PLEASE

My biggest (non time related) complaint has always been that a transed forger, who has forged hundreds of master quality weapons, still sets to work by beating randomly at a piece of hot metal like a three year old who just discovered that slamming a spoon against a pot makes noise.
Seriously?
Seriously?
Daved2009-05-11 17:16:15
Why not remove the RNG completely and simply standardize all warrior weapons? Seems like it'd be a simple fix.

Because different weapons have different purposes. For example, I have two klangaxes: one for combat and one for hunting.
Isuka2009-05-11 18:34:05
I'm not entirely opposed to making weapons standardized, although that would make forging even less profitable because any old weapon would be fine.
You'd just have different weapon types for different intents. Ie: klangaxe for speed bashing, waraxe for combat. It wouldn't really change anything if you wanted different weapons for different things.
It would also reduce the insane gold cost for novice warriors.

Daved2009-05-12 18:49:19
Well Casilu, since the klangaxe is really the only bashing weapon you'd use, and whatever the 'balanced' weapon for axelord is never gets used, that balanced weapon could be re purposed to be the new bashing weapon.
Daganev2009-05-12 18:54:43
Is anything added by having different versions of the same weapon having different stats?

Specialized tools for specialized tasks.
Sure you can try to make an all-rounder, but you'll end up with a spork - inadequate as a spoon and a fork.
