I've played in Magnagora for maybe a month now. I must say I'm rather impressed with the RP. I'm looking to make an alt and try out something different, just someone to play an hour a day or less. I think it would be interesting to check out more of the player base, cities and communes. I've asked a few of the people on here if they had any experience in RP away from Magnagora.

This is what I found.

Celest : Alright RP, if your willing to put up with the 'die taint mentality all day.' People rarely use emotes. Generally it's pretty boring but can have it's moments to shine.

Serenwilde : OF all cities and communes, Serenwilde is by far the worse. RP exists only in extremely small packets and three quarters of the player base there doesn't even know the emote command exists.

Glomdoring : Good RP if your Emo. (That's really all I've heard :/)

Magnagora : This is my own personal comment. I'm extremely satisfied with the RP on many levels and it would certainly be hard to top.

There is obviously a bias on the first three due to the fact 90% of all people I know hear are Glom/Magnagora. I wouldn't mind so more input on the topic from all sides though to get a fair comparison.

Serenwilde is in a tough position. The casual "loller" looks at each org, thinks "Oooo, good forest! I can haz lotz of fun therez!" and then proceeds to poison us with their ridiculousness. The nexus is by far the worst place to look if you are looking for RP in Serenwilde. But, look around further, you'll find some pretty good RP. And most of us DO use the emote command, frequently, and with purpose. Guild RP seems good in most guilds, and (because of my personal experience) Serenguard RP is stronger now than it has been. I don't think anyone's RP is as strong as it was in the very beginning. I've read some killer logs from way back when from all orgs, and I"m floored by the depth all players used to have.

I'm glad you're enjoying Mag RP. If I get around to making an alt, I plan on making a Mag. But there are complaints about every org. When Mag's RP goes bad, it's usually along the lines of "I'm a higher rank than you, so I can tell you to do whatever you want, and kill you if you don't do it". It has gotten out of hand before.

So I wouldn't count any org out, because all have their pockets of good RP and pockets of terrible RP.

Serenguard, Huh? I'll make a Serenwilde either tonight or tomorrow and check it out. I'm taking it that Serenguard is almost the same as the Ur'Guard in a sense?



I had rank pulled on me once in a real negative way when I first started. I don't mind if they are meaningful orders to fulfill for the betterment of the engine, something productive or RP based. For the fulfillment of their Ego's however and for that reason only, it gets a little frustrating. Unless of course your really are going to RP with my character for a while, let me get a feel of why your such a jack-ass. If that's the case, then I'll understand.



Got any of these logs handy? I would love to read a couple.

Not exactly sure what sense that would be. Both use Knighthood, but that's about all that makes them similar. Completely different feel. One is a soldier guild, rank and file, military hierarchy, all that. The other is a tribe, a brotherhood of warriors, intensely loyal to each other and looser on the "yes sirs." I'd say the RP of the two groups is fundamentally different.

Another thing to consider is to get into the RP of any group you have to put a little time into it. Spending a day in an org isn't going to teach you the finer points of each.



I don't have any, I've read some on the forums and have come across others by talking to people.

I've had decent RP in almost all of the guilds I've played. The only one I have gotten pissed off at is the Ur'guard.

Respect is fine. Yes sir, no sir, great.

When a GR1 chews out a NOV because every sentence I say didn't have "Sir" in it. That's when I get irritated.



Isn't a reason to dress them down and chew them out. Other than that, my experiences in most guilds have been petty decent. Moondancer is a bit slow to respond to someone who asks a question, that's about it.

(And so I wonder. How can something be more or less true? I mean, are there... degrees to truths? Like can something be more true than something else? Then are there degrees of lies, or is something just 'false'?)

I was just talking to someone the other day about the idea that "how often you use the emote command" equates to "how good your roleplay is" to some people. Amusing to see it so overt.

I disagree. The times I've spent in Glomdoring were quite friendly. Eliron is awesome, Rika is pretty cool. Leiliadhe is pretty cool as well.

Man, I was obviously being sarcastic. I'm the guy who purposely designed the Nekotai to be emo (in terms of titles and names) because I thought the entire idea of Glomdoring being emo was amusing.

Seren would be great if it weren't for the concentration of snugglers and lickers. They have some good RPers

There should be some sort of ability that allows us to config on/off. If hugged, licked, snuggled, pounced on, pecked, tickled, etc, the offender is instantly beheaded.

Somaria hun, I not getting bored at all with the family RP. In fact, it's probably the first RP I've had in a long time that I cried from laughter from. It's hilarious. The family history is great too and some of the remarks I hear when I mention Y'Kaliath is priceless. I'm just looking for a charactor to poke around with to get to know the game and it's entirety. Your not off the hook that easily girl.

I think I missed the memo where emoting = good roleplay. Am I the only one who finds people who constantly are emoting kind of annoying? It's like overacting in my opinion. Yes, I get it, you're dark and brooding. Must you swirl your cloak around you and twirl your mustache?

When I don't know someone is roleplaying? When I just feel that they ARE their character because I haven't seen any evidence to the contrary due to the fact they don't break character ever? That's good roleplaying in my book. It's a combination of how they talk (not whether they are always using different voices or anything), what they say, what they post, what their actions are. That tells me who that character is. Whether they emote or not...I just guess I'm from a different school of roleplay.
