Tsuujin, with irritation, states, "Yeah, and that wizard just waltzed through here, not care in the world, eh?"
Tsuujin starts looking through the bodies for anything of use, not really expecting to find much.

The bodies of the goblins contain what has become usual--an axe and a shortsword, while the zombies have only rotting clothing.
Within the chamber to the right, however, rests a 7-foot tall statue, almost completely void of features due to thick layer of dirk that coats it. To the left is a pile of gore and filth--shredded clothing and armor, rusting weapons, and even what looks to be bones from hallway outside the crypt.

Shooting a glare at the human fighter, Aesamar turns away from the dead goblin and turns towards the statue at the end of the room. He examines it carefully, trying to both identify who it might be a statue of, and look for anything else unusual or enchanted around it.
((After the teleport-disc-thing, I'm being cautious about this.))
((Arcana, History, Religion and Perception checks on the statue, respectively. (1d20+12=29, 1d20+12=31, 1d20+10=12, 1d20+8=17)))
((I think the "reading this topic" readout is a bit iffy. It probably keeps things around for a few minutes after the page was actually loaded. Either way, even if I didn't know, thank you for speeding things up. No point slowing things down just because I didn't check the thread.))

"That might be the body of the orgre king, perhaps we should destroy it? It almost looks like its a type of altar." says ralzik, a bit grumpy at the lack of treasure found so far.

Aesamar studies the statue for a moment, checking it for any sorts of wards before daring to go near it. Finding it free of any magic, he works with his fingers to break away a bit of the grime. It is indeed a statue, carved from stone and set upon a large block of hardened clay.
The statue reveals itself to be, rather than the large humanoid it appears, a bulky ogre wielding a battle axe. Searching further, the wizard finds an engraving in the clay base--scratched in clumsy common, it reads, simply "Ogre King," just as the warlock had speculated.
And yet further still, just below the title, Aesamar finds that a panel is loose and can be removed, revealing a small chamber where offerings have been made. Most of it is trash, but among the debris is a single vial with liquid that the elf recognizes as a potion of healing, and a collection of gold coins totaling one-hundred and seventeen.

After spending some time to heal herself (use 2 healing surges for a total of 14 hp healed), Kuro approached the statue.
"We don't know what that thing could do to us though. Last thing we need is another trap. It could trigger something on destruction."

Tsuujin ponders for a moment, and then says, "Well, how do we get it out of here, without destroying it, then?."
He follows that up with, "Also, didn't I see you pop in and out of existance not that long ago?" directed at Aesamar.

"If it were another magical trap, I'm fairly certain I would have found it." Aesamar reaches into the hollow at the base of the statue and retrieves the items within. Counting out the coinage and performing a quick calculation, the eladrin hands twenty-three of the coins to each of his companions, putting the twenty-five that remain into the coin-pouch at his belt.
"I'm fairly certain this is made from rock, not flesh, and besides, if it were the magically preserved corpse of an ancient king, I doubt the goblins would have left it all the way out here, rather than wherever within these tunnels they make their lair. It's probably exactly what those offerings in the base make it look like: A simple shrine."
He turns to Tsuujin. "Oh, that? I think it was once some kind of teleportation structure, but the magic has faded with time and disuse. It just transported me to some kind of cosmic anteroom."
Now that the matter has been, in his eyes, solved, Aesamar crosses the corridor and peers around the filthy room the late ((late-late? very late? later?)) zombies had previously inhabited.
((Perception check in Zombie room. (1d20+8=15)))

"We should destroy it then..."
Ralzik looks around for ways to destroy the old dusty shrine.
((no idea what type of checks I would do here, can spells even damage non creatures? ))

((Yes, spells can damage non-creatures. All items have hit points, but since we're out of combat, I'll let you destroy it if you want, since having you basically shoot it with eldritch blast over and over again would get old and be pointless. ))
Aesamar enters into the crypt, feeling his feet catching on various (possibly and most likely unpleasant) things within the mess that fills the floor of the room. However, in his perusal, he manages to catch sight of a glint of gold, which reveals a coin purse containing twenty pieces and a small ruby.

(( how does magic work? Can that little disc teleport a statue to the null space? ))
Unknown2009-03-24 20:22:10
((I suppose it could. But really..there's no magic. It's just a statue. ))

Aesamar steps out of the festering muck that coats the room, and flicks four gold coins each towards his companions, again pocketing the remainder and the crimson gem. At this moment, the wounds the hiding goblin gave him finally catch up, and he must steady himself against the damp wall as he takes a few minutes to recover.
