There's a poll. Vote in it smile.gif
Shamarah2009-03-02 06:34:00
Monks are miles and miles above any other class in the game at the moment. Pretty much everyone agrees on that one. This poll would be more interesting to see once monks get rebalanced.
Daved2009-03-02 06:52:51
Then there shall be another! Vote anyway biggrin.gif

Who voted Ebonguard? :/

I did. Don't even know what it is. It just sounds tuff and stuff. weightlift.gif

You should join! Same archetype as Ur'Guard, so you wouldn't lose many lessons. come2ebon.

Monks may be broken, but each monk guild has some serious weaknesses that can be easily exploited. I have a much more difficult time fighting a competent druid (Hartstone or Blacktalon) than I do another monk (in fact, there isn't a single other monk in Lusternia who can even dent me 1-on-1... even if I'm playing entirely defensive).

Fighting monks currently is a lot like fighting a Celestine. If you notice them building up to X momentum, you retreat, let it fall, and kill them with burst offense. Some classes, like Nihilists, can just hinder using ectoplasm/shackles. Consider that each time you have to kata terminate to cleanse/scrub, you are losing a level of momentum.

Hey, Cacophony are more powerful than Spiritsingers. I knew it!

(Object demonstration of how worthless these polls are)

Words cannot begin to describe my surprise at that statement. People actually have trouble with Druids? I thought we were on the bottom end of everything.

Absolutely not.

I'm assuming Narsrim means within a druid's demesne.

Still, even with demesne effects and everything else it just surprises me. I'm not the greatest druid combatant out there. I'm decent, but not anywhere near top-tier fighting (but I'm working on it).

Cudgel damage just sucks so horribly that I can't imagine being able to kill someone most of the time. Then I get really discouraged and think about going Geomancer.

I giggled.

No, druids are very good combatants when they are allowed to set up a demesne ahead of time and people are willing to walk into it. Monks and Celestines especially should go:
#sub {"The shadowy outline of a twisted forest casts a dark gloom here."} {"It is very dark here. You are likely to be eaten by a grue."}

Of course, if you are not a monk or tarot Celestine, you should cowboy up and learn to fight in a druid demesne like everyone else.
Shamarah2009-03-02 16:48:54
Yeah, druids are pretty much impossible for guardians and monks to fight. It's a real pain in the ass.

I remember Lehki wouldn't even fight me, he'd just run in the room, unshield me and the run, he just let sleep attrition do the whole thing.

I now feel a little bit better about myself and my Druidry skills. tongue.gif
Parabollus2009-03-02 18:25:01
I know as a Tahtetso whenever I fight an Aquamancer (such as Rahil or Senna) I have trouble maintaining my momentum because of all the afflictions they...afflict me with. And by the time I cure them, my momentum's pretty much gone and I'm back to poking with feathers. Then they kill me. rip.gif

Of course, this may be just my n00bness holding me back here. I don't really have an effective system of curing afflictions. Yet. suspicious.gif

Constantly getting separated from your demons. Goodbye any hope of good afflictions. But wait, I can still muster a good offense and know how to deal with this...

Oh wait, constantly being separated from the druid. Well, nevermind you aren't going to get any skilled instakills now. Guess its just flail around and wait for saplock.

I will fight Narsrim before I fight a druid.

Anyone tried out the new version of Ancestral Curses (hits me for 2-3 afflictions) in a Hartstone demesne with a rune/mote infused/embedded?

Hello: Swarm, Pollen, Spore, Squirrels, Treelife, Storm, 2-3x Ancestral Curse, Rune/Mote. That's around 8 afflictions!
