I was wondering if there are any fans of the metal band Dope here on the Lusternia forums. I ask because they're about to play a show here in Rochester, NY with Sevendust and Black Label Society, and I'm gonna go see it. I'm familiar with some of their music (such as their debut Felons and Revolutionaries and their latest, No Regrets, didn't like Life all that much except for a few songs), but seeing as this is going to be my first time seeing them live, I just want to know if anyone else has seen them live and can tell me what to expect. And I guess while we're at it we can discuss metal music in general here. Which is awesome, despite what Jack says.
So anyway, Dope, and metal in general. Discuss.

Hey, come on, people, there's gotta be somebody here who likes metal? It doesn't have to be Dope in particular, I just thought I'd bring up that band because I'm seeing them live and I thought it'd be a good conversation starter.
Well, if that didn't spark a conversation, maybe this will:
My Nintendo DS signed by the members of the metal band Hatebreed. So it's the most hardcore DS evar.

I love Dope, and I love metal.
I have Life and Felons and Revolutionaries, and the intro to Debonaire is my ring tone right now. I haven't seen them in concert yet.
My wife and I are going to Music as a Weapon IV (Disturbed, Lacuna Coil, Killswitch Engage, and Chimaira) on her birthday in a few weeks. We're both psych'd about that!

Awesome! Disturbed stopped by here in Rochester about a month ago, also doing their MAAW IV tour, but it didn't have nearly as big-name a lineup supporting them back then. Instead of those other bands you mentioned, it was Skindred, and Caustic, neither of which I heard of. But hopefully they have their full lineup supporting them now.
I hope you have an awesome time!

I like Skindred, too. Should probably buy some of their music some day.
This is a great parody song (with a lousy recording, unfortunately) that I've heard on my XM radio: Death to All But Metal
P.S. Rock Band 2 is the bomb! I've got about 230 songs now, most of them being the harder stuff (Static-X, Megadeth, NIN, etc). I wish they'd quit posting DLC crap like Spongebob...

Welp, I went to the show on Friday. Dope was clearly the best of the three bands there. Sevendust were cool, up until Lajon Witherspoon (the lead singer) announced that somebody (I forget who) died in a car accident on the way to the concert, and that sorta sucked the energy right out of him. And mysteriously, I was feeling like crap before Black Label Society came on, so I left the concert before their performance. Shame on me, I know.
Oh well, I got an autographed Dope CD out of the show, though, and that's cool.
EDIT: Also, at the concert I found out that Virus, Dope's guitarist, is actually from my hometown of Rochester, NY. Aw yeah.
