Talkan can fight, period. Players that attack him on forums either - 1. spend too much time playing the forums and don't know much about the actual game or 2. have been 'terrorizedlol' by him in game and use the forums to attack him. Amaru, Thoros and Narsrim dealt with the same, especially Celestines. Its amusing to read posts where people call Narsrim a 'cheap' fighter when he can re-arrange the face of any fighter in game, no matter what class he plays, with the exception of a few. Same goes for Talkan. I know that people hate inquisition, though it is avoidable, but it doesn't spell insta-win. Plenty of Celestines have no idea what they're doing in a combat situation, even with a system.

I have suggested to Talkan that he'd have to change class to prove to various eediots that he's good, but either way- people would find some reason to complain about him. Example: Narsrim

I'd suggest to anyone who reads combat logs looking for tips or whatever else to ignore the points of the few you'll soon come to realize as quite bitter, strange and unable to separate in-game hostilities from forums.

I now have a new favourite made-up word. happy.gif

Being shrubbed by trigger happy administrators lowers forum credibility does it? I guess I'll addend my previous statement and say that your forum credibility, nor your sensibility are at a premium and they never have been, I suppose.

Wait, so it's Estarra's fault you took a bribe as envoy?
Damn that Estarra, always punishing people who don't deserve it.

/deep biting sarcasm.

I vote for this.

Look, I made this thread not to attack Talkan on the forums (that's only 25% of the reason) but to ask for tips in fighting him.

First off, you should haxx the game to get a better nativity.

Tried, Ethelon's plugin won't work.

I thought stuff like this was disallowed on forums? Bringing up things like issues or shrubbings with specifics, however misinformed, attached? If you actually wanted to create a thread looking for constructive criticism, you wouldn't have titled it 'Talkan ganked me while I was with a poor wittle novice and oh boy, isn't he lame and mean?' Something like that.

Got anything constructive to add? I'm also trying to learn how to fight, and all the whining back and forth isn't doing much to help with that.

My biggest question: how do you cope with not only a person hindering you, but the angel as well?

Shaddus, when you see infidel/inquisition leave the room. When you see meteor, leave the room.

This was entirely avoidable by walking away and not letting him land timed skills with no effort to hinder your escape.
What else could I possibly add? This isn't a combat log. It's an 'I stood there and died' log. The best advice one could give him is to not stand around, try and cure or just leave. It wasn't a duel or anything.

@Isuka you have good curing. Seriously. And if you get whacked by stupidity, have focus mind, or get lucky. I sparred Talkan once, and the affs weren't crippling. Though, if he had aeon on me, that might be another story....
Isuka2009-04-03 17:49:51
I always see people say to use focus mind for stupidity. Is focus mind invulnerable to stupidity, or is it just that it's one command, instead of two?

That, and I think it's faster. Just comes in handy I suppose.

Focus mind is one command. Pennyroyal is two, unless you have some in your inventory, and since nearly no one that I've ever heard of outr's herbs for fighting except against a few specific classes, it's more reliable - speed wise - to focus mind. However, focus mind can cure a separate mental affliction than stupidity, so you have to be careful if you're more than just stupid or you may not cure it where as pennyroyal would have.

And Shaddus, my poor misinformed, apparently abused, forum and game novice. No one took bribes. You'd do much better to speak about things you have some sort of knowledge about - we can clearly scratch posting meaningful posts on the forums, combat in the game, and envoy business off the list.

Let us not forget that Infidel is now cured by focusspirit, as is heretic.

Nothing has been changed yet in regard to this. It's been working as it has since day 1 of Lusternia.

Focus spiriting right now during heretic masks the aura but you can still move into infidel.

Focus spiriting while infideled will remove it.

Again, it's been this way since day 1. It's not a recent development.

Drama. Deep seeded hatred. Bitter assumptions. Heroic friend defenders. Personal attacks.

This thread has it all.

How many times does Charune have to tell you you're wrong before you understand?

It has not always been this way. It is a recent development. Charune realized that this was happening because of a typo added to the code when the Inquisition chain was changed so that you couldn't inquisition immediately after infidel. This was a rare case, because it relied on lucky power regeneration but was important enough to warrant the change anyway. Heretic does not have the same code that infidel does and so when you focus spirit on infidel it completely negates the chain because of an extra check that heretic does not have.

I mean, the man said it directly to you on the envoys channel and on the forums. Get it through your head

Incorrect for all of this. I have access to every version of code that's been used in Lusternia. The first version of Sacraments when the game was created had this issue. The cause is an extra check between infidel->inquisition that is not present in the heretic->infidel change. As for when I realized it, I saw this as being a possibility much earlier but did not test it til later.

Not rare at all in groups.

As far as the change to prevent the aura from staying open, even when it opened it would have still be cured by focus spirit, rendering the point moot. It would have required multiple focus spirits, but it would have still cleared it.
