Uh, set up, yes. Same effect? No.

These may cost more than other things, but I disagree that the costs are "so extremely high." Why is it that everyone's so against charging (or paying) higher costs for certain things? We have this stigma that everything worth having should be had for free or as close to it as possible.

Not to mention the fact that raw tea prices are skyrocketed for the near future. I've heard anywhere from 200 to 5000 per for raw tea.

What I just found out that's going to screw up with all the new brews recipes is this:

Pale Malt costs 3 grain and 3 sugar.
Amber Malt costs 8 grain and 3 sugar.
Dark Malt costs 15 grain.

Not sure about tea until they grow.

Brewmeisters can only brew one malt per commodity package.

This means that for a brew recipe as per HELP 21.6.3:

Brews..........3-4

You have to do, for example, 1 dark malt, 1 fruit, 1 spice for a basic recipe.

This eventually means the recipe is not 3-4 commodity, it is really 17 commodities.

Not to mention sugar is rare and alchemists charge an arm and a leg for them.

Even the very basic recipe like Olde Orcish costs 1 palemalt which is 6 commodities.

As well as, brews are not affected by the magic spatula or portions.

I'm not going to design anymore tea or ales if the commodity costs are so extremely high.

Because of the costs and the precedent already set, I'm pretty sure that the minimum is one comm when the comm is one of those Brewmeister-made comms. Not that that's cheap or anything. I don't cook anything that costs 15 grain or three sugar ever. Still, tea as a luxury good is in demand, and you can pass that cost right along, and, barring any word to the contrary, you can probably continue to make non-tea, non-meister brews just like you always have.

Plus cooking is the cheapest profession in the game. Even at 1 per item, you're still at half the cost per item then any other profession in the game.

Above is not true.

That probably has to do with the sketchy grow times.

Oh really? So your stating that a unit price of about 200 per item before 2-4/4-6 bonus cooking is more expensive then say, tailoring? Blacksmithing? Alchemy?

How much do you think the herbs cost for a health potion? Hint: way less than you've ever paid.

Herbs? Alchemy?

Alchemy is a relatively cheap profession. Only the high end stuff that people don't buy as often are expensive to amalgamate.

Quicksilver is less expensive to amalgamate and more just tedious to find enough mercury. tongue.gif

Allheale.. yeah. I agree.

(Infusions for tea?)

A health potion is cheap yes, but who ACTUALLY makes vial sized portions. Take your health potion and multiply it by a hundred to the standard Keg please.
Xiel2009-04-07 03:14:38
Uh, I used to make single-vial fills all the time when I was an Alchemist. So does Sarrasri and all the other Alchemists I know.
Diamondais2009-04-07 03:16:47
Alchemists still do single fills, as if you're trans you get a bonus.

I think the point being made here is that cooking's prices are right in line with other consumables. Yes, it's cheaper than jewelry, but it'd better be.

Rename Lorecraft to Apothecary.

Lorecraft sounds like a bookbinding spec and to be honest, there is nothing in the spec that says "yeah they are crafters of lore"

They are Apothecaries!

I want. Please?

Oooh, an idea for disenchanted achemists, give them an ability to distill corpses into esteem that can be imbued into things. dribble.gif

That actually sounds really nice.
Narsrim2009-04-07 04:10:03
You know now may be the time:

It should be possible to disenchant an item that has a flame sigil attached to it and dropped on the ground. I find it so annoying when people put flamed letters or other trash in public locations. Disenchanting should just destroy the flame sigil so you can pick the item back up.

Question for the Brewmeisters:

I know that amber/darkmalts get more effective the more drunk you are. Do these effects give lines when you sip one? Can you have both dark and ambermalt effects up at the same time? How long do they last? :S
