Knighthood Spec

All right, so I suck as a Pureblade. I have yet to win a fight, and I'm clobbered by a large margin every time. Most of this is my fault, I'm not trying to stick it to Pureblade. I don't know what I'm doing, and I'm not improving.

So I come to the question: should I change specs? I liked pureblade because I get to use a Katana (something I train with in real life, which is fun for me) and I like the RP around why I chose it in the first place a long time ago. But, maybe this isn't a good enough reason. I really like combat, but the more I lose, the more frustrated I get, and it's gotten to the point that I feel like I am hopeless.

Bonecrusher looks fun to me because it's basically Arnis, which I am also a real life student of (and I'm much better at Arnis than I am with the Katana). I know that the stun capability of Bonecrushers is awesome, and it may help me compensate for my low-level a bit.

Axelord is obviously quite effective, and I wouldn't lose the ability to sever limbs (which i think is just awesome).

But what do you think? Am I just making a rash decision because I'm frustrated, and should really stay where I am?

Edit: Keep this in mind: I don't have any credits to spend on re-transing.

I asked Talkan for tips about what to do against Pureblades. He told me to laugh at them and then kill them. I really think you should switch.
Narsrim2009-04-05 02:07:06
You're curing is terrible. Start there. You won't find a specialization that fixes your major weakness.

This.

And I think the current trend is actually PB, oddly enough.

Well, to be fair, I'm basing my performance against classes I've spent the most time including into my system. My curing is only terrible against things I haven't gotten to yet, like monks and mages. It's still not great, but I wouldn't call it terrible.

You could try adding Tracking to your arsenal, it is useful for Pureblades I hear. A beautiful little birdy of love told me.
Rodngar2009-04-05 02:42:49
I have hammers you can purchase from me if you make the leap, but I would investigate Celina and Narsrim's advice foremost.

Also, which class are you? ur'Guard? I hear Necromancer BC is just brutal.

Actually, from our spars I can tell your system has some big holes in it. You bled out from a double amputation in one. Died to slit/amputation in the second, both were without locks, as I havn't added an asthma alias yet. Your parry and stances also leaves a lot to be desired.

I don't mean to sound mean, because you put forth a lot of effort and it's nice to see. I'm just telling you my observations. My system may not be Ceren level, but it's pretty good and it's why I was able to pick up warrior so easily. I can survive the learning process.

You're also the first axelord I've fought, hence I was fighting with essentially no reflexes.

Speaking as someone who has been 3/4 of the weapon specs, I would have to say that bonecrusher was alot easier and more fun to play. I am pureblade right now because I like the flavor and the challenge, I am also determined to make it work. And yeah, my offense tends to get laughed at alot.

Rofl, Asthma aliases for your.. slit locks... Good one. I think you still need to learn about your class as well.
Rodngar2009-04-05 06:36:22
Whose to say that asthma alias isn't for some super secret, ultimately devastating combo that would forever change the face of Lusternia combat..

.. ok, I can't even keep a straight face typing that. I can't even see what asthma could do right now that slitthroat doesn't already do. sad.gif

You're right, I do and have never claimed otherwise smile.gif I've been a warrior for a whole 4 days, and am helping Isuka as opposed to being a pompous ass.

Might be I just have slit lock confused with a normal "(soft)lock" Consisting of asthma, anorexia, and slickness. At this point I only have slitthroat with senso aliased and stick that while they are prone and missing a limb. Haven't really gotten that far though, as I'm still learning basics. smile.gif

I heard a rumor, whispered in hidden halls beneath the sacred earth where words are seldom spoken but amongst the sand and stones with beards of moss *breathe*

...that Pureblade is a viable spec. I am curious!
Vathael2009-04-05 17:08:12
Since warriors can't hit with anorexia, I have no idea what kind of soft lock you are talking about!
Desitrus2009-04-05 20:42:05
Sounds like someone is still thinking of standard IRE vlock/softlock which is wrong. Only BC's need asthma for a throat-lock, as windpipe has two cures, one of which is smoked.

I warned you about this a long time ago Isuka. Pureblade is for people with 20+ str, artifacts, and/or an extreme understanding of knight mechanics. There is simply no way for you to outpace curing without a stun or the ability to last long enough for the rng to treat you well. That problem is mostly compounded by not having high strength and artifacts. Once all (nine? Don't remember) of my changes go through, then it would be alright, but still the hardest spec. Until then, it's still only good at the extremes of player skill and/or str+artis.

And, as far as pureblade goes, you do have to be able to live longer as one with less room for curing errors as you aren't extremely hindering in the fashion that the other specs are. Impales and knockdown + paralysis (either knockdown) give a larger window for a break in someone else's offense.

I like PB more than I did AL. I'm not saying I'm great and PB is better than AL but I like it and Celina can't build enough wounds on me for kneecap let alone amp biggrin.gif
