Firstly: That picture makes me laugh. I may steal it for my avatar.
Secondly: The man depicted crucified is generally accepted as Alexander the Great, not Christ. Christ was a short little jew, with a complexion and build fitting for a middle eastern of his ancestry. The Church adapted this to something they found more familiar with the people they were orienting their religion to, and the people leading the church. For instance, if the man on the cross was 'black' (I hate that word, it's so vague), you would not see caucasians worshipping him so freely or readily.
Thirdly: Believing the Catholic Church on anything relative to the life of Christ or religion is silly. Everything has been changed and adapted sooo many times for the convenience of the people in power you'd have better luck getting the Church of Latter Day Saints to support gay marriage and abortion than finding the truth in Church doctrine.

It's so amazingly rare for me to find anyone else who both realizes and acknowledges that Christianity in general is self serving to the point of changing critical facts to their own benefit, that every time I see it I have to double-take.

You know what was fun for me? Looking up the origin of the word "Easter". I was like: WTF kinda word is that? Good times for all.

And one would hope that such a blanket statement of obvious portent would apply only to catholocism in general, and not to Christianity as a whole. Blaming an entire religion for one sects obvious failings is akin to blaming the economy for Enron.
EDIT: Because I realized that it looked like I am defending Christianity- I am merely arguing against discounting it on such an illogical basis. No wait... I'm not even arguing that! Merely a witty response to a funny comment!
Oy, this is a new one. Arguing religion with a god >_>

Kind of like telling one to His/Her face He/She isn't real?
Isuka2009-05-07 00:17:37

Edit - Addition - So I got bored and decided to think of what I could do with a vial of holywater, then it came to me, thank you Somaria.
*sprinkles the vial onto someone* The power of Eventru compels you!
