Maybe everyone should get to remove pits then. Maybe throw it in combat or something. Not everyone is a coder. That's the whole point of this rant Ethelon, i never climbed out because I was already dead, you think I didn't at least try to climb up?
Well, the first one on Astral, was a normal pit... so not sure why you were not out in 4 seconds. The second time you walked into a spikepit, which does make it take a little longer, depending on your curing, but if your system was set to catch it, you would still be out in time.

I kinda wanna see this 'unstoppable' pit kill.

You know just because Tracking happens to be have great synergy with Pureblades, I think nerfing tracking more is not the solution...
EDIT: I am a biased Tracker, and am envious of the PB loleth pitdecap technique.

Any warrior who takes Tracking is putting themselves at a disadvantage (I'm saying this as a Tracker, too). Neither Pureblade or Tracking need to be nerfed.
Simimi2009-04-23 20:21:14
I have to agree... I really do. I know my opinion doesn't mean a lot since I am not yet ready to actively pvp, and I am still learning how to use Tracking best with Axelord, but I really do agree that it is a bit of a disadvantage, especially when compared with say, Ecology (the other Hunting spec).

You know what's like a kick in the nuts though, when you get ectoed and try to climb out of a pit. You never leave. Then you take the beatings.

Whoa there filly, you're on that side now, you're supposed to tell me how ectoplasm is only useful in a very small number of situations and then talk about how in all honesty it could use an upgrade.
PS: The "bull" you're seeing is that he's using an old "bug"/"feature" that the starter line for decap isn't showing if you're in a pit. It's not even ten seconds, it's twelve. How it appears to you if you don't immediately web him when you step out of the pit (which you should always do against a pureblade tracker), is that your head is suddenly chopped off with no warning.

Let's not throw around bug accusations mate, no need for that. If they climb out immediately they will always see the mid-timed message and as you said... it takes just web to stop.

This is why the slash exists. Some people consider it a bug that only one instakill in the whole game gets hidden by pits and other people consider it a feature.

Ahh, I always considered it the only slight advantage, like blackout hiding insta-kills.
Shamarah2009-04-23 21:17:27
If the pureblade is just standing there and not attacking you while you're in the pit, it shouldn't be very hard to guess what they're doing.
Geb2009-04-23 21:21:35
I did the pureblade + pit behead one time against Ixion. He died to it and told me that he could not see me start the attack. I considered that a bug, so I bugged it and did not do it again.
So I wonder, is it a a bug or not? I never received any feedback on what it was considered, but until feedback is forth coming I personally will still consider it a bug.

Here's an idea. If someone out of a pit can target someone in a pit with an instakill or whatever, let the person in the pit be able to target someone else. For instance, I fall into Malicia's pit, she attacks me. I should be able to point a ring at her, right? Web, whatever.
Maybe Levitate should make it easier to climb out of a pit?
Or make instakills not able to target people in pits.

Ashteru2009-04-23 21:33:01
Easiest way to get out of a trapped room with an instakill started is to walk out in the direction you came from. No danger of hitting the trap in that direction since you already hit it when walking in.
Arix2009-04-23 21:33:24
depends on the instakill. Decap is dumb, because how can you reach someone in a pit trap with your sword, let alone swing properly to decapitate? Chasm, on the other hand, I don't see being realistically hindered

Uh, the whole point of pit is that you can't target the person on the outside while you're pitted.
I'm not sure why people are arguing for pit to be nerfed just because Dysolis can't cure.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with the people who think pits are fine except for the "not seeing decap start". But if someone can reach me with a sword, I should be able to reach them with a sword, or heaven forbid, an eight foot long chain with a spike on the end.

That all depends on the the depth and circumference of the pit. If you don't have the room to whip your chain around and fling it, how do you expect to hit someone outside of it?

I have to agree with Shamarah, the point of the pit is you not being able to attack out of it. Trackers can attack into because they made it and know it.
But definitely, not seeing the attack start sounds like it should be fixed.
Lawliet2009-04-23 22:17:40
If it's supposed to cover an entire entrance (and lets, for sake of argument say it's a big room) then it has to be a pretty big hole in the ground, no? If it's a field or some such then it has to have pretty big "entrances", no? This would give room to move around.
