lol @ trying to balance game mechanics with physics. I love you guys.
Ethelon2009-04-23 22:25:55
Well, hard to balance around reality... like that big exit and a iron weight somehow hitting you directly on the head from above.
Shamarah2009-04-23 22:26:57
Also, instantly eating multiple herbs and drinking from multiple vials at once with no time consumed. HEY LET'S MAKE CURING THINGS TAKE BALANCE YOU GUYS

That all depends on the the depth and circumference of the pit. If you don't have the room to whip your chain around and fling it, how do you expect to hit someone outside of it?

If you don't have room to swing a chain, how do you have room to swing a sword hard enough to remove a head? Plus, if the pit is higher then the person's height, any sword outside of the ones in final fantasy will force you to kneel to reach the person in the hole tongue.gif

Given that decap is a 12 second delayed instakill (the last time I used it) I don't see what would stop you from getting out of a pit and running before it fires off. Am I missing something about pits?

Dysolis didn't have it triggered or coded into his system, so there was some confusion and he though I one-hit killed him. Most of us have that reaction when we come across something that surprises us.

If it's supposed to cover an entire entrance (and lets, for sake of argument say it's a big room) then it has to be a pretty big hole in the ground, no? If it's a field or some such then it has to have pretty big "entrances", no? This would give room to move around.

If you are willing to go that far, just make the argument that it really is a small and deep, strategically placed pit. This in conjunction with your own maneuvers and goading the enemy result in him failing to notice the trap and falling in. Every time. Trackers are just that good.

Can't climb out off-balance, eq, or anything that prevents normal movement.

Several fun facts:

Climbing out with ectoplasm will cause the climb out to fire while you're still off-balance.

Writhing a dog clamp or being paralyzed as the escape ticks means you won't go up.

That kind of thing.

Fair enough. I thought I was seeing him complain about being -unable- to get out and run.

That is not the only problem. The other problem is that the initial part of the attack (could be more than just the initial, though I don't know since I do not stay in a pit long enough for the second message to hit) is not seen while being in the pit.

I personally found it too cheap of a move to use, once I realized the first message was not shown.
Ethelon2009-04-23 23:33:51
Geb, there are sooooooooooo many cheap moves in this game.. this being so minor in comparison to some. I consider this a harder version of trying to use insta-kills behind blackout/angel vapors

Maybe atop the pit trap there is a sign that says "Arr, thar be treasure here!" and no matter how big the entrance/exit to the room is the victim is curious and walks over there and falls in.

A hole in the ground that only personal enemies can fall into. Nice.
Rika2009-04-24 00:00:50
Ethelon isn't even trying to deny that he is using a cheap move. He's trying to deny that it is wrong that he is using a cheap move. laugh.gif

PS: Spikepit + beast spit + decap == win?
Shamarah2009-04-24 00:03:30
I don't even understand how this is a cheap move, anyone with a brain who can cure can avoid it.

Also, OH MY GOODNESS ONE EXTRA POISON

Believe it or not, I'll have to quote Celina -- don't blame someone for using a cheap move, blame the move for being cheap in the first place. I agree that you should see the first message while in a pit. But to blame Ethelon for setting up a situation that is no different than any other class's "lock"? No, I don't do that.
Ethelon2009-04-24 00:10:31
I don't use beastspit sad.gif

First, I do not consider this a cheap move to the extent others are. I consider all four Monk classes cheap, I consider SS cheap, I consider Vapors/wtfsetupkill slightly cheap.

This setup only works right now because people fall for something so easy, they just don't catch it. Once people make alerts, code it into triggers.. my glory days will be over *sigh* and something else will be found to hate me over.

Everybody knows that metal stops psychic powers. There is metal in the dirt, which functions much like magneto's helmet. suspicious.gif
