Wintersun... Their pronounciation, aieee, it burnses me! Amorphis are also Finnish - I always thought they were ah, merkins.
EDIT: I am in an odd mood, do ignore the odd text-noises that find their way into my posts.

1. flow
n. A rapper's ability to rhyme to phat beats in a skillful manner
I don't see "The ability of weird bands to produce obscure music" in that definition!

Also, as in all my replies to similar threads, Wintersun, woo. Wintersun are so Finnish and awesome.
So, any idea about when is Time coming up? They have been recording that album forever...

I feel really lazy so you should just click on my last.fm thing down below. If I listen to it then it is cool. Some of it overlaps with Jack, some doesn't though I think we have fairly similar tastes. Even if he does hate Conor Oberst.
Edit: Ok, I will give a few descriptions because I don't want to do my paper.
Cursive: Emo, catchy guitar, well written lyrics- The Night I Lost the Will to Fight
Rasputina: Cello rock, lots of songs about history- The New Zero
Doctor Steel: Industrial rap, steampunk, songs about building toy factories and world domination, Sometimes makes me wonder if it is Jigan in song form- Back and Forth
Circle Takes the Square: Screamo but not that whiny stuff people pass off as screamo. More like screamo with progressive/math rock guitar and drum work and some ritualistic style chants. This is what the Cacophony should sound like: Interview at the Ruins
Architecture in Helsinki: Australian! Up beat! Sort of scary sometimes!: Do the Whirlwind
Cap'n Jazz: Old School Emo, less crying more badass: Little League
Fiery Furnaces: Concept albums about pirates, blueberry boats, cell phone salesmen, stealing your brother's girl, and ADHD? Yes please.- Blueberry Boat

I could quote selectively too, you know.

Wintersun and Amorphis are great! I'd rather hear things in their native tongues, but I can get passed pronunciation. Usually...
Have you heard of Isis, Saaga? I may be thinking of the wrong band, but...
EDIT: Yes, Isis. They were recommended to me by another Agalloch-phile.

I enjoyed their music, even if it's a little too upbeat for my tastes. Thank you.

I want to see him live sometime just because it looks like a crazy show. There are a bunch of live videos on youtube. Sadly he uses a real band, the robot band isn't working yet.

Devin Townsend
A great bipolar musician, that just happens to be ugly as hell.
Genre: Shifting somewhere between Rock and Metal, with wild variations depending on the album and band (specially in the vocal department) .
It runs the whole gamut from this:
All Hail the New Flesh
Sh*tstorm
To this:
Let it roll
Sunshine and Happiness
And the sometimes you get some random oddness thrown in there
Vampolka
Edit:
@Othero Alestorm FTW but I'm more partial to this one. Wenches & Mead
Also, I find your idea of the Cacophony somehow lacking in the chaos department. Personally, I would nominate Unexpect Megalomaniac Trees

For MYRKR:
Wäinötär - Noita Something like Värttinä, but mixes folk/electronica - not quite as pure modern folk music but interesting to say at least. (more)
Saaga - The Swell
Lumsk - Trolltind Norwegian stuff. I like her voice.
