I was wondering of those here who play world of warcraft have you been able to load of Wow recently? I downloaded the latest patch or so I think I have. The program hasn't been starting at all , like it loads up and tries to run but then goes back to the desktop. I was wondering if anyone knows what I should do about this? I tried checking the patches to see if it was that and it's not I don't think.

Myself and my boyfriend (as well as a few other people in our guild) have had issues with WoW, but nothing to do with loading. What you might want to do is uninstall it and reinstall Wrath of the Lich King.

I've had problems like that when I don't run programs in XP2 mode in Vista.
Dysolis2009-04-28 04:45:59
Hrm I run winxp.
Daganev2009-04-28 04:55:30
only other thing I can think of that wasn't allready mentioned is making sure you have the latest directx (I think it's 9.c?) and latest graphic card drivers.
Dysolis2009-04-28 05:02:41
well it would get to the play world of warcraft page and it would think about running it , I mean I could before anyway after this patch. Would the requirements for newer directx go up in later patches?

No, that is wierd.

Check the WoW forums about the patch, maybe others are having the same problems.

Or do as was origianlly suggested and just reinstall the game.

I play. There are issues with the game loading when you try to log into your server right now. It'll cause your program to freeze for a few seconds and in Vista gives the "Not Responding" message. The game is trying to load over 7GB of data files and can lock up for a minute. Just be patient and it'll load. It started with this last patch. Whenever you get a loading screen it'll do this as well. I thought it was my UI or computer at first but I looked into it on the forums and it's the game.

ahh! that'll make sense. Thanks Penelope

My pleasure.

What server are you on by the way? I'm mainly on Ravencrest Horde side though I'm leveling an Alliance Druid at the moment.

Git back on your Horde and boost my troll sad.gif I need your spiffy arrows of death and destruction to make me all powerful!

Hm? There was an issue with the patcher from last week not launching the game actually. It wasn't a hitch in loading the file, it was just that the patcher install package wasn't set to take the next step, you can alleviate it by just running the patch file yourself.

Yeah that sounds like what is happening to me, it won't load the game after the last patch came through. I think the patch did install correctly. Though maybe it didn't, should I reinstall the patch itself? The patch repair says i have about 17 patches or so.

Just go in and run the latest patch executable straight from the directory, rather than through the patcher or blizzard downloader.
Dysolis2009-04-28 19:23:23
I went into the directory itself , even deleted the two patches from it and reinstall them. double clicked on the patch itself and it brought up an error message , windows- no disk or something to that extent. That doesn't sound like a wow problem to me. But when I click continue it brings up the blizzard updated which says I have the version 3.1.1.9835 already. Though I am installing warhammer right now and it says my direct x isn't fully updated.

I really really hope it's just the game because I've re-installed the whole wow game and all the patches up to the current patch. I've also deleted and manually install them after but it'll still load up and try to run but it fails after a few seconds. Kind of reminds me of a pureblade pitrap instantkill where it tries to get up and you think your getting up but your already dead afterwords.

After yesterday's minipatch I had the same issue. Just have to find out where it places your patches when they download and go run the patch by itself not from the patcher.
Dysolis2009-04-30 08:41:54
Ok when I click on the path it says that it already has the current patch, it won't install. Should I just delete it and try again?

I'll just tell you the file name when I get home.
