Can anyone confirm whether monk damage is based solely on the weapon?
@Havulma: I can see why they would. I'm on The Scrying Pool. Looks very interesting.
@Casilu: That's hot.

I'm on day 4.
Took me a 2-3 months to get the robes I wanted...although, that's because I bought up all the silk where I could and had to wait for it to repop.
Check xieltalnara.googlepages.com, it's updated unlike the Scrying Pool.

Take offense to that, we're trying!

Its based upon character strength and speed of your weapon for bashing.

Nah, damage stat on weapon for damage. Who da thunk it?

For monks it is based on dexterity more than strength, in fact. (Though strength matters too.)
Yiro2009-05-19 22:11:58
Warriors use Str and speed stat for bashing, though the damage on it helps too. Monks do use Dex yes, but I think the weapon part remains the same.
in PK damage on weapon is key for damage, precision for wounding, speed is for bashing mainly though it helps in PK too.

speed on weapon is more important for PK, imo -- the faster you stack afflictions, the better off you are.

While Lusternia is very different from the other IRE titles, I must say that having the main attacking skill level not influence bashing damage and accuracy is something I find very strange. It has always been the other way around.

Generally that's a good case, but people prefer precision weapons to do wounding so they can use their spec afflictions, not poisons - though they still use them, its not the main strategy.

Can I have laser weapons please?

Sure! Just get told no by the Charites
You'll be using Kata weapons, now you know what to ask for from a Forger. Just specify an ALL METAL DESIGN for shofa knives, you'll come to appreciate it. All metal designs return all comms when smelted down to try again.

You mean... there's no reduction in returned materials? Like, it takes 10 metla bars to make a longsword. You smelt it down after it turns out crappy and receive 10 metal bars back?

You got it. So make sure the designs are either all: iron, gold, silver, or platinum - or any combination of only THOSE commodities.

That's why I'm on day 4 making this ing axe. So long as it only uses metal, you get everything back.

So Casi..I've been wondering...wanna make me a 45/45 greatshield?
Unknown2009-05-19 22:40:41
That is so broken. On Imperian, they recently nerfed smithing so that it's still 100% random, but the ingots can't rise above a certain level. As in, you can no longer get the level of stuff you used to. Not to mention, you only get back like half the material, at best.

Maybe when I'm done, then you'll be paying me as much as a shield rune.

I would gladly accept a system that requires more comms, and significantly less invested time.
We're not kidding when we say you can spend 100 in-game, real life hours forging a single weapon.

I was only teasing, there's no way you're going to get that without dying from dehydration at the forge, sweaty girl!
