Remove Avenger.
Remove all discretionaries.
Allow melding/entities anywhere by default.
Reduce time/effort taken to recover constructs/avatars/domoths/etc.
Remove penalties for losing Avatars/Supernals/DLs.
Greatly reduce time between weakenings and domoths going into flux.
Consolidate the Aethercraft specializations back into one Aethercraft skill.
Let everyone participate in domoths (all stages, yes this means letting non-demis into the domoth realms, though they shouldn't be able to claim).
Hugely boost the XP gained from PK.
Double or triple all power loss/gain across the board.
You want dynamic conflict? That should do it.
Also: give special organizational 'commendation points' or some such for killing enemy loyals (more points for stronger loyals, obviously), participating in PK (more points gained in allied/enemy territories and depending on the level of who you kill) and completing organizational quests.
Commendation can be traded in for special items and things (some for minor combat/utility perks) and your overall commendation level also changes your description and appearance to show your reputation with your org. Stuff like new entry/exit messages, lines on LOOK, different cudgels/symbols/etc. Maybe commendation level should add to organizational favour/vote weight.
In the interest of fairness, commendation could also be given for contributing to org culture through writing and such.

...or you could just make combat a pointless waste of time with zero incentives for anybody to participate then half a year later when all the oldbies have left you can make another thread like this one asking 'how does I maek moar combat plz' and get responses from carebears and other people who think mudsex is Serious Business telling you that PK should take a backseat while you work on implementing new furry races to perpetuate the yiffing.
Your choice, Estarra. The playerbase is what you make it.

... yeah. I don't think so, Incabulos.
You still need to give people the option to not do conflict all the time if they don't want to. There is more to Lusternia than just the conflict aspect. That's not "dynamic conflict," that's "constant conflict".

Because WoW also has... commendation points?
I don't see the similarity, beyond the purely superficial.
And it's not like WoW has a conflict system that's such a travesty that it's starting to be considered detrimental to the game.

Sub commendation with honour.
You can buy special items for PvP with marks earned in the battlegrounds.

Agreed.
I mean, I'm not particularly a fan of getting involved with conflict. I already feel fairly hobbled in where I can go and what I can do without some over agressive nimrod spraying me with enemy statuses and making me lose a few hours of effort. (Guess what? That isn't "a fun use of my limited time" for me in any way shape or form.)
Unless we're going to make Demigod a much less time intensive project, (like, much, much less. To this day I don't understand why a state which the game is centered and balanced around requires such a truly obscene amount of time to get. It's not even special or skillful, it's just "who has the most time to sit at their keyboard consistently? You win demigod, and can now be involved with the game fully.) then we don't need to open the door for making leveling even more of a pain for people who aren't combat inclined.

If they don't want to, they can sit at the Moonhart and snuggle kittens or pretend to be having a baby or something.
Besides, even with the changes I mentioned, I don't think we'd have noncombatants and newbies being raped as soon as they stepped out of home territory. Maybe at first, when it's novel, but I think if we'd just open up PK completely and let everyone get the whole 'lolgrief no avenger' out of their system for a week, then we'd see people start to pursue fights that are fun, instead of fights that are easy. All the combatants should be busy offplane zerging eachother for experience and rewards, anyway. There'd be nobody left to do the griefing.

Did you see the four-hour Faethorn raid the other day? Even with conflict the way it is, the fights are often more about "easy" than "fun". Because "easy" is fun to some folk.

Once again, I state my stance.
The only real problem is consistency.
It's not losing the Supermob. It's losing them three-four times whenever possible. It's not losing your powers, it's having to jump through hoops to get them back only to lose them again.
Emotional stress and irritation that comes from being slapped once in the face is childish (Yes, I am fully aware that this probably occurred from me too.) The duress from many slaps is what is the problem.
You could put out Super-Dooper-Light-Cleanse-All-Taint quest, and the major problem would be how often it can be done. If done every-single-time-by-campers-who-have-no-lives-while-the-rest-of-us-work-for-a-living-god-damned-school-children-purge-them-all-with-the-cleansing-power-of-a-melta, that's when you get the real problems.
Because I did not read the thread, because I'm a half-wit who wanted to put his stance on the table, I won't bother outlining the solution of increasing time in between super quests.

FYI, the referendum shows that a lot of people do want to reduce negative effects from conflict systems in some way. I have a feeling these types of people may simply be under-represented in the forum discussions.
The difficulty here is, everyone who plays the game logs in and sees the big giant message "YOU HAVE NOT VOTED IN A REFERENDUM OR ELECTION!". Not everyone is in the forums. I would say that there in fact is a minority of players who are actually in the forums. Hell, I haven't seen anything but veteran posters posting here, and most of the Veteran Posters are well established characters who don't mind a little bit of craziness now and again.
You'd probably get a better cut of the population's opinion if you had a Town-Hall type meeting in game with the players and offered everyone who came and participated 20 credits.

This may not be the thread for it but anyway, I think Demigods need to be able to do something with their essence besides phoenix and zap, seriously.
Essence shop plz or something. I absolutely hate the fact that I have a load of essence and nothing to possibly do with it. I could never lose Demigod even if I ran into Prime Celest and let people kill me for an hour. Any normal person would lose a couple levels I'm sure. Make essence worth the time to gather!
