Magnagora's influence task is the hardest of all the tasks, in any org. Here's a few ideas to put this on par so people can actually do this (and I mean new players)
1. Increase the time the staff or skull stay in your inventory, they decay too ridiculously fast.
2. Increase the odds of obtaining the items. All the other orgs have a simple one - Serenwilde has the songbirds which drop guaranteed songs (might not always be the right one but it drops), Celest's is guaranteed song pages, and Glomdoring has the shades that go into your inventory every time you succeed. Why shouldn't Mag have a simple one too?
3. Be super haters and make everyone else's a pain in the to do too!

Glom's collegium influence quest is horrible too. We get at least three novices a day complaining about it being undoable. The other two I don't know about.

I had an alt there and it took about 30-40 influences to get a few of them. The others took two. The Mag one can have the entire quest reset on you in the time it takes you to do it.

Isn't Glomdoring's influence quest begging those shadow crows? That's not too bad, as they always give you what you need. Besides, it takes what...3 of the talons and 3 of the feathers, taking them to either Brennan or Rowena, give them the multiples of it, then go to the quest giver - So not hard.

Each one went through and each one took ego. I think that's far, far worse.

I had more trouble with the mag hunting quest...the one that requires you to fight the gibbering darklings, or whatever.
Yiro2009-05-24 22:22:10
Then Casilu your alt has no charisma. Yes it takes 2-3 for all college quests, even with Wheedling. But the point is, the crows give the item guaranteed, just need the ego vial they give you, or mediate every so often.
The hunting one is a pain in the too, those things have a ton of health and can spam the paralyze, draining lots of newbies of mana and depleting their vials quick.

Alt has 14 charisma. There is no reason it should take upwards of 30-40 influence attacks to beg from one mob from a collegium.
Half of them took 2, the other half took 30-40. I'd prefer Mags over that.
Unknown2009-05-24 22:42:36
I've never had any of the college influence mobs take 30 - 40 influences, and my alts have run the gamut from Illithoid to Tae'dae.
I think 8 or 9 influences is my worst.
Yiro2009-05-24 23:11:37
You do realize that you might've been hitting up ones that were already influenced?? They'll let you go on forever, and you did it so long that they repopped the item??

If you influence a target that has already been influenced, then you don't lose ego. I was losing ego on every attack.

No, Yiro, the biggest complaint I hear is that they successfully influence the crows and none of them give what they're supposed to. It's happened too much to just be a fluke... it might be the opposite of mag's problem, i.e. the items taking too long to reset.
Yiro2009-05-25 00:08:38
I've done the Glom college quest a few times, you gather the amount of the first item, then you have to go give the talons to Brennan first before you go influence the other crows, kind of like the Hints tell you to.
Aerotan2009-05-25 00:37:13
You do..?
I remember with Lesk it was just Beg'd crow, talon, Beg'd crow, talon, Beg'd crow, talon, Beg'd crow, handle, Beg'd crow, handle, Beg'd crow, handle, Brennan, Rowena, teaher, teacher, done.

kiriwe2009-05-25 00:59:52
With the Mag college influence quest, you can just kill the mobs till they drop what you want :/ That's what I did on Kiriwe
Unknown2009-05-25 02:24:51
Thought you got enemied for that.
Yiro2009-05-25 02:34:52
That kind of defeats the purpose you know, and the problem is still there, items decay too quickly.
Arix2009-05-25 07:20:11
Actually, there is a random thing that happens where charity influence takes an inordinate number of tries on things that should not take more than six shots or so, IE Furrikin in Estelbar. It is currently being looked into, but feel free to bug it should you encounter the problem
