What would you like to see in June?

Back to Common Grounds.

What sucks is having to pick only one thing, because I like several of the suggestions being made.

But, when it comes down to it, I'd have to pick forging.

Edit: While I like the "weed down afflictions to streamline combat" suggestion... i don't really think the problem is the number of afflictions, but rather the mechanics of how some of them work. There are too many lock types, too many ways to cause slowdowns, too many insta-kills, druid melds are a joke... It's way overly complex outside of the bounds of simple affliction quantities.

I really wouldn't mind seeing the family system get tweaked a bit. Between unassailable high head starts to little bugs and randomly messed up people it seems to need a bit of attention. sad.gif

GO FORGING GO! You can do it! wub.gif
Everiine2009-06-01 21:53:38
Ha! Forging is on the doable list!

I'm half tempted they just did it so that it would lose and they could say, "HA! TOLD YOU!!!"

Just kidding, of course.

Family. Family. Family. Honestly, families have the opportunity to be so much more dynamic than they are now. Veritable customizeable mini-orgs. I would love to see family-related privileges capable of being purchased in either credits or predetermined sums of gold. Some things I would personally like to see are the following:

+ Families capable of adopting sort of like how bloodbonding is done. Only one parent need to be there to adopt, and the other parent either having to agree to it, or them being capable of veteoing the addition before the 12 months is up.

+ Families capable of bannering with each other prior to being a lesser house. (In this vein, you could have a plethora of smaller families banding together to become a Lesser or Great House. This would offer another way to get to Lesser/Greater house--via the accumulation of smaller families bannering to your family. )

+ As stated above, a variety of purchasable privileges. (Of which I have no suggestions at the time being.)

+ Some mechanic that allows families to interact with each other (Maybe the Mes'ard and Talnara get in a bitch fight, and the Mes'ard begin a smear campaign that attacks the Talnara's prestige. Squee. Simply put, something that would add a little oomph to the family system.

+ Perhaps something that allows families to interact on a greater level with their chosen org. Maybe Nightshade could, in addition to the eventual patronage of Nocht, also affirm a pledge or loyalty of some sort to Mother Night, or something.

I'm not very coherent right now, because when it comes to family and family RP, I go a little nutters, but, basically, I would love for families to matter more. And I would love if the requirements necessary for adopting children became less strenuous. As it is, it's oft times hard to be on at the same time, and this isn't even touching upon the necessary evil that is divorcing and re-marrying just to keep your family alive numbers-wise, should your spouse go dormant.

So. I vote family.

Because one day, the Nightshades are going to take over Glomdoring. And I want there to be coded cool stuff by then.

1. Shikari. (Hey, I'll take privs so I can induct people! Sojiro, Sidd and Synl want to join. sad.gif )

Maybe allow someone (such as Xenthos!) to allow people to join in order to bolster it, it's really sad that some orders just die because nobody around wants to fill that role of the God. sad.gif
Unknown2009-06-01 22:01:16
Right, so when/if forging gets fixed, and weapon stats matter more, can those who bought runes get to move their runes for free? I don't mind reforging, I'd rather not lose credits.

Agreed. Shikari is the only order I've ever wanted to join, and I can't remember him ever being around.

He's only had one player that I can recall, and it was for a short time nearish to the beginning of Glomdoring. He took over from Viravain for awhile.

Aetherspace, how I love thee. I could count they ways I love you, if only I wasn't forging. Sorry space buddy ol' pal but forging comes first.
Xiel2009-06-01 22:10:25
I, as well, chose Forging not only to throw them a bone after all this time hearing the strain from it, but also for my own personal reasons which ties into something else I think it would feed into. As someone who's just getting into the swing of actually designing things, it's kinda sad that because of the sheer...what's the word...redundancy? Pointlessness due to perfection? Well, whatever that word is, folk would never actually attempt to make anything that doesn't consist of all-metal designs because matching up the aesthetics to the possible utility the weapon would get would never match up if the comms keep getting used up trying to just get a weapon that'd be useable. Maybe it's just me and thinking gifting people with a not only nice looking weapon, but something they might actually use as a good idea, but I dunno.

Secondly, as Lendren mentioned earlier, envoys are more solidly placed into the combat balance category than anywhere else. I've had to ninja-yank general changes or tweaks to trades to get some movement there, so I still think that a person set to address trades alone would still be welcome. -twiddle-
Anisu2009-06-01 22:10:38
I would say forging for two reasons, one it has been a griefance to many players since day 1. And 2 less insanely hard to get high end stats means classes using these weapons are a lot easier to balance across the board rather then overpowering a few people or underpowering the rest. I would venture to say it affects everyone. (well except people that evade combat as a whole i suppose)

I would love to say demigod (and ascendant) cause it actually affects me more then forging, but on numbers of people affected I think it is a lot less then forging.

Right now aethercraft is not really causing unbalances, do not get me wrong I would really love to have a use for my ship, and the idea behind aethercrafts really is awesome. But I just think there are more important things to consider right now.

Families is rather low on my personal list of priorities because of it's limited effect. And I have no idea about racial imbalances but if those are more earthshattering then the effect of the widespread of sword stats, feel free to change my vote to that.

Not that I feel it needs to be done in June, though if it is this is what I would like to see:

Family System:

o A complete reset of points. The points for honours should have been reset after the initial bugs were fixed and before the large headstart was given due to the bugs.

o Honour should be gained by family members in any Org holding an elected position.

o Honour should be gained by people marrying into the family, since it is lost by people divorcing out of.

o Great Houses should be given a 'family house' in a neutral area on Prime. Size dependant on their family size but a minimum of 4 rooms. (yes, yes, there is manses, but -anyone- can own a manse)

o Bugs with adopting, people not being recognised by the family system, should be fixed. (and when they are bugged should not be left sitting for a year. They may not be game breaking combat bugs, but to many players the family system is an important aspect of Lusternia)

o There should be no eventual seat on your org Council, but instead once your Family Honour reaches a certain point, the vote weight of your family members increases by 1 point each. Subsequently, if your Honour falls to a certain point it should reduce your vote weight by 1 point each.

o Adoption of family members should be permissible without both parents being in the room. I do nto agree to single parent adoptions and shudder at the idea. I do agree that a family that is trying to grow with a spouse that may not be acrive currently is nearly impossible and for RP reasons some people don't want to divorce and 'game' the system.

I am sure I have more thoughts, but I just woke up.

As to what should actually be fixed in June. Ascendancy works for me. Heck, the only fix it even needs is letting Envoys envoy Ascendancy skills. If you do that, then I would say fix forging.

This. I'd like to poke things like Consumption which is just unusable by me through an envoy report, but from what I've heard, Ascendance is out of the range for envoys to address.

Alas, that wouldn't be possible to do in a month.

You've had a few years to start working on Hallifax and Gaudiguch. How much do you have left? sad.gif
Mirami2009-06-01 22:47:28
I Voted for family, mostly because Vhedra suicided, meaning that there's no way to Bloodbond more people in.... I founded the family, but now there's just me, so I can only have children, never any more progenitors? I can't tell who my siblings are anymore, even though I could with Vhedra? This doesn't make too much RP sense... let Founders bloodbond people in with just the one, but make other progenitors have a confirmation, maybe? That way, this is much less likely to happen.

(Of course, the system still caused Mir's family life to be thrown into disarray twice now, but that's beside the point...)

I like the "reject rather than approve" method for bloodbonding, but not for kids as much.

Also (having just sailed into aethspace with Pelas, Ilaveuse, and Konton) aetherspace seems pretty easy to hunt/fly in. The only thing is that they're worth WAY less XP... maybe up the gold/dust x2 (since it's getting split 4 or 5 ways), and up the XP? I get 0.02% XP from a gorgog in the aetherways... not really worth it, from an XP point of view. we made 4,000 gold on gorgogs and pyrinnes in about 45 minutes... the trouble is with the splitting issue, having to split four or five ways. I would say that simply multiplying the rewards by two (gold) and by about 2.5 or 3 (XP) would make it worth it, but not crazy-good. Again, the trouble is in the rewards- they're not big enough to make it worth sailing on for gold or XP. I would be tempted to fix it in Gold more than XP, personally, but that might just be me.

Also, I don't get the censor.gif comments about finding a ship/captain is hard, you just have to look and/or ask. I've got two ships that I can fly on right now, with two more available in the near future if I really wanted to fly on them. Again, you just have to be willing to fly the ship and use some of your personal reserves to do so.

What I would like in June:

Double XP time suspicious.gif
Gnomes suspicious.gif

A new race!!!!!11!
Unknown2009-06-01 23:00:10
I sosososososo want to see gnomes and finks made into playable races!

Besides that: delete bards and monks, release one of the lost cities.
Astraea2009-06-01 23:06:07
I'm sorry, but you can't delete monks. I'm having too much of a good time being a Grandmother Scorpion-revering Nekotai. But you know, since we're on the topic of releasing orgs, Jojobo so should be released as a NPC area where you can do quests to aid/defeat Sun, or aid/defeat Lion over who leads Jojobo. Yes please.
