When Aetherspace was decided to be "too good", it got nerfed harshly. And I do believe people lost some circles when the admin found them afk during it. I say influencing should be in the same boat. Don't get me wrong, I'm a lazy SOB and I don't hunt as often as I should. But I shouldn't see 25 year old demigods running around, when I'm circle 78 at my age
The very fact that people can perform an action repeatedly for very little cost, make enough money doing it to buy bromides and keep it up? No offense to Lendren, he's a wonderful person. But I don't believe I've ever logged onto a Seren alt and not seen him online, 75% of the time he's influencing guards. I mean, he's #1 in experience/essence right now, and this is the reason.
Am I just an idiot for thinking influencing is unbalanced?

Actually, I made demigod and up to #3 in the rankings before guard influencing was even available. I didn't even use Astral more than a little; I ground the Undervault tunnels for almost every point of my last five or so levels, and continued to do to more than 100M essence. Talk about doing things the hard way. Guard influencing started the demigod-train quite a while after I had already done that trip on foot.
Nowadays I only do influencing guards a few hours during a couple of days in an average week, just enough to keep my esteem ahead of my karma blessings. I hang around a lot for other reasons but I'm not really racking up essence. I spend some of the rest of my time alone in a manse, just because, while I am virtually always at the computer, I am often paying attention to another window. I never influence AFK.
For the record, I agree guard influencing is too good, and have said so since day one. And that's also beside the point of this thread. I see no reason why guards shouldn't all be brave. If there's a problem with guard influencing, it should be addressed across the board, but the mindset thing shouldn't be unequal.
Edit: when I say "available" I mean to me. Some places had influenceable guards while others didn't, until the change that made all guards influenceable but only with weaken and empower; and that happened when I was already #3. But by that point, Jozan had been cranking through Celest's guards for a while.

I have a few things to say about this...
First off, if you're getting demigod by 25, either you're violating HELP AFK or you've sold your soul to Estarra. Hadrian's the youngest demigod I've seen; however, he did a lot of other stuff to get there, not only guards.
Personally, I like the XP faucet that guards are; the problem lies in the ease of influencing. I'd be tempted to make all the guards intimidating; after all, the problem people are whining about is the ease of anybody to do it, right?
Although...
Keep them weak enough that I can influence with 15 CHA as a circle 78 lobo, with pony/perfume? If not, I think the solution would be to make guards stronger in ego, so they're more equivalent to Astral, for the influencers, because I can't think of a similar-level influencing ground.

Nah, I beat Hadrian in terms of time it took me to get demigod and I did 100% guard influencing from level 75 on. Had I done it earlier, I probably would've shaved off another year off my time. It only took me 8 lusty years to get demigod from stepping out of the Portal of Fates.
It's not just an EXP faucet either. It's a gold faucet. I think I earned maybe tens of millions if not hundreds of millions of gold selling bottles of esteem.
I'm not going to advocate any nerf of guard influencing, because I have no ground to stand on. However, equality of guard influencing types isn't so much to ask for.

When I log on at 5am and all I see is like 5 people online all influencing guards. I kinda feel like something is just... Weird...

T...this...
I used to be just happy if I could make 20k in a day
Do you mean thousands and not millions?
Unknown2009-06-01 20:45:17
Nope. I mean millions. You can make almost one full bottle an hour. Doing it like 18 hours a day for about 4 months (~120 days).
2160 hrs * 5000 gold = 10.8M with no work involved except a simple influencing script.

Some people get it. I don't see what the hell you guys are arguing over, communes have the advantage with the influence type. I just want to see them all the same type.
Look at the title. Then you will see why people are going "no."
Make them the same if you want, just not brave.

He can sleep while he afks.
Unknown2009-06-01 20:56:53
Actually, it's 6 hours of sleep. I never botted while I was sleeping. I turn my computers off, because I pay my own utility bills.
Thank you for your assumption, Celina.

Why are you getting your panties in a knot? Starting to think maybe you do bot influence.

Yea, my panties are untied now. Our pseudo-argument is not even relevant anymore.

When I began influencing, I filled 1 bottle in approximately and hour (sometimes 50 minutes, even). It was the time when a bottle sold for 10,000-12,000 gold each, so I made loads of money and bought a lot of credits (4000per), which resulted in four Transcendent skills.
Yes, guard influencing should be nerfed or deleted. It's a win button as worse as Choke.

Or release an area where mobs gibe decent influencing experiencing, given that they present a challenge to the influencer
Nariah2009-06-08 10:11:31
Just make them all equal already, whether brave or intimidating. Argue whether to ban guard influencing again or not later. Frankly, I'm surprised it hasn't been yet with the amount of complaining that has been done about it and said complaining's obvious logic.
