Actually, though, I've dug up the golden sands even while an enemy of the Inner Sea (kelpies), and even once when someone (Laranda, I think?) else was also on the Isle of Light.
Also, yes, the primary power quest of cities give much more reward that Serenwilde's (which gives gold, but the pixies can be Prime-raided, I suppose) or Glomdoring's (which gives the same experience as Serenwilde's, but without the gold).

Sernewilde's pixie quest is really quite easy, Greet, give leaf to pixie, lead to fire, lead to mother.
It does serve another purpose besides power, it also is the way they grow a tree that is cut down.

It's the same with Glomdoring's shadows.

Who is Captain Gil?
Razenth2009-06-06 04:23:11
Ask Azoth.
Unknown2009-06-06 05:21:26
Captain Gil is the Celest-loyal merian who mans the ship that goes from (?) Celest-Isle of Light-Merian Isle.

While you could use Spectre Isle to bash to 80 (Spectral Paladins give out niiiiiice xp for their difficulty), there are a whole host of other spots that are:
- less populated by novices
- faster xp once you make it past 55
- more profitable (if you're lucky you can make 5k gold on Spectre Isle, but that's if you kill EVERYTHING and muck about a bit with the power quest; so in total we're talking about half an hour, forty-five minutes depending on your bashing skill and ability to sprintglide)
- not prone to random walkintoaroomandgorgogmashesyouintoafinepaste because someone was feeling ornery and did the release quest
It's the last one that really swings me, though
And yeah, Spectre Isle is a great way to get acquainted with the history of the Basin. A lot of novices (I know I certainly did) start asking questions like "what's Celest and how is it related to New Celest?", "what's a Ladantine?" and "...so why am I brutally murdering these terribly sad people again?" as a result of doing it.

Wait, they actually asked the last one? That's bloody hilarious.
Ryll2009-06-06 07:01:40
Well, no, but I know I had a moment of "wait, what am I doing here?" about a week ago. OOC, of course.
Arix2009-06-06 09:34:51
What happened to captain Serarn?
Esano2009-06-06 09:50:23
There's two Captains that are loyal to Celest. One from Celest to the Isle of Light, and one from the Isle of Light to Nyalia.
I think.
I think.

Yep, wish they had not made Gil loyal to Celest though, just another thing to defend that serves no purpose. (Because really who uses that ship.)
Unknown2009-06-07 04:07:14
I used to raid the ship. It's Celestian territory.
Edit: And crack jokes about how Celestian boats are always filled with water.
