I think the biggest problem is the fact that some people are just too used to whining, complaining and ranting about virtually everything. Be it death due to lag or being called in a bad name IRL...

While reading LoR was more entertaining than The Funnies, I must say I fully support the decision.

Ok. Let's use this for an example:

That's what I consider a constructive complaint. It says what I don't like. Says why I don't like it and even makes a suggestion. (obviously, I realize that briar walls make everyone writhe so they're not completely unfair to invaiders, but it was an example)

Or this one:

This is also a constructive complaint. It says what I don't like. Says why I don't like it and though I don't have a suggestion to fix it, calls upon others to do so. (I actually really would like to know why pants can't be worn under greatrobes. It can't be that hard to code something, can it? wub.gif )

Would these types of things be allowed?

You can't wear pants under great robes because I like to sit in Havens and throw heavy gusts of winds up under robe wearers. Muahahaha.

ohmy.gif I knew it! I KNEW it!

It seems like those are constructive criticisms that would be allowed. At least, I wouldn't remove them.

Well, ok then! At least I'm safe! Cause that's the sorta complaining I'd be doing. happy.gif

We know you wouldn't.

Anyways, did anyone actually send that e-mail to Jeremy? Not only are the ranting forums still there for the other three, but I see politics threads and zero rules announcements.

Why I don't see anything wrong with your examples, I don't see how they are worth complaining about.
Wouldn't it me even more constructive if you would post it as an idea in the Ideas section of the forums?

So instead of multiple people joining in and also complaining about the issue, you'd get a few people who agree and also have something constructive to add.

Although I am fully aware that I put too much hope in mankind smile.gif

How do you know I wouldn't put stuff like that in the Ideas? In fact, sitting here, thinking "Where would I post those constructive complaints of mine?" Ideas was the first forum that popped into mind. Cause, yeah, I'm complaining, but it's constructively (like I said before - what I don't like, why and an idea of how to change it or calling on others to supply ideas). So, obviously, ideas would come out of it. So, Ideas is where it'd go.

I'm actually not seeing much difference between what I put and what you put except that I never actually posted, "I'd do this in the Ideas forum" laugh.gif

The way I see is that...
If it's in the Ideas section, it's an idea, given that you provide the solutions you see for the problem.

But, it's also a complaint. Cause I am also voicing a grievance. I'm just not being a jerk and saying rude things while doing it. But, does it matter? Honestly? As long as it's allowed, I don't care what folks want to call it! laugh.gif

No, I know. I'm guessing it falls under the 'no advertizing' rule or something. dunno.gif

Your scathing remarks burn deep, man. They burn deep.

Following Shiri's sentiment, yes, those sort of posts are perfectly fine. The only reason the thread would end up locked or removed would be if it was hijacked and turned into something that would have belonged in the Idiots! forum.

As for the other games, I'm not sure what's up, but it's not really my business, either. All I know is that our fearless leader received some directives, some precise some not so much, from IRE on what needed to be done to the forums, and we're doing our best to move quickly and efficiently so that it can be dealt with and gotten over - like a band-aid, we just wanted to deal with it. If the other games choose to take their time about the decision, I suppose that's their prerogative! I can't speak for them. If I had to take a guess, they're probably drawing up a list of forum rules to go with the on-high change in policy. I know we had ours up so quickly because we had discussed this in the past, and already had a list, which just needed some tweaking and a few additions. That, and we're just cool like that. cool.gif

Noola, I believe the reason why Estarra didn't directly answer your question, and instead refered back to her original comment, is because people seem to be reading more restrictions on themselves than are intended.

We decided to make the posts invisible until we have an opportunity to talk with Estarra about her feelings on the content of said posts, and whether it's something we as mods want to allow. It's not something any of us feel comfortable deciding without the boss lady's input.

I did, actually, thought it probably wouldn't hurt for others to as well.

Good grief, Noola!

You can complain and make your feelings known, just not in a gratuitously malicious way. That's all we mean. From what I recall of you, I seriously doubt you'll ever be called on anything you post! Just post as you normally post and if there's an issue, we'll let you know.
