I will take a couple of mean looking dogs over a firearm any day.

I have a dog as well. And swords. And a flail.

I've got some cats and frail girly arms. Do I win?

Phoebus could cute someone to death.

Also, firearms are actually psychologically less effective as a deterrent then a knife or bladed weapon like a knife, or a sword. If you want to intimidate someone, produce a sharp, carbon steel claymore.

That's one of them! biggrin.gif

But seriously, if you come into my house uninvited, I'm not going to attempt to intimidate you. You're going to get shot before you have a chance to turn and run. I don't want the cops accusing me of shooting a fleeing intruder.

I have a dog, but she is not the kind that would menace the zombies, but the kind that would wag her tail at them and hope they'd pet her.

We decided that zombie defense wasn't a top priority when I designed the house. Annoyingly, the appraisers don't rank it highly when you're trying to get a mortgage.

What you really need for the zombie apocolypse is traps, just remember where you put them.
Xenthos2010-06-20 15:22:40
All you really need to do is live in Vermont. All the movies tell us that Vermont is far enough north for the zombies to be unable to survive because it is cold.

Or move to Canada. Worst you'll get is students dressed as Zombies. monster.gif

Or the Resistance, depending on which side you're one. ninja.gif

I planned an awesome trip for my friends and I to this once-a-year Women's Expo (cool freebies?). I figured out the route by public transportation, where our stops where and everything - on my call, we nearly got off at the wrong stop twice, and then when we did get off because I was so sure - my friend looked around and commented that the place looked awfully like a Ford Dealership. We had to walk the 1.5 miles in the hot sun to the plaza. And found out the Expo was canceled.

I don't think traps make for good zombie protection because they fill up eventually. The problem with zombies isn't any individual zombie, it's that there's always more. No, my only hope is that the zombie apocalypse won't get here, or by time it does, we'll have had plenty of warning and thus time to fortify with other survivors.

I have a better idea, though. Let's not have a zombie apocalypse. That sounds more fun.

Instead, you get a month of vampires or whatever.

Depends on which movie we end up in. Vermont seems to appear unusually often in these things as "the last safe place" towards which the survivors head over the final credits. Insular communities, lots of guns and woodstoves and pickled food, and separation from the cities seem to make it a good place for entire towns to be walled off. My town probably won't be one of those, but I can load up the car with enough food to ensure myself a place in one of them.

Isn't the month of vampire thing up north of the Arctic Circle though? That's a long way from here. You're closer to it than me -- your latitude's a fair bit north of mine. (I suppose you'd have very polite vampires, though.)

Yeah, that was Alaska. Long periods of night only happen way way way up north. wtf.gif
Lendren2010-06-20 17:30:57
Shiri probably thinks Vermont is north of Alaska smile.gif (I've lived in both, by the way.) Or at least that it's north of England!

My bicycle has turned against me and seems to endeavor nothing more than my suffering (and my blood to fuel its dark impetus). Its brakes suddenly became ridiculously responsive and flung me over the handlebars twice on my way from work last night, and the gears devoured my good work pants. blackeye.gif

Because I'm sure a shotgun to the chest, or a swinging tree trunk will drop a zombie. Face it, you can't trap for zombies. It'll do nothing for one, or it'll take out some random guy trying to save you.

Don't be a Lamoe. RCs FTW.

Why would you load the gun before you were done fiddling with it? wtf.gif
