The level above endangered means vulnerable, which while it doesn't register as endangered, counts as threatened. It's still protected under some endangered species protection acts.

Chances are that the woman in the gif works at a wildlife refuge or sanctuary. So if you really wanna be near/around wild creatures that are as adorable as red pandas, I'd suggest finding work for a sanctuary or zoo. Moreso since a lot of refuges and sanctuary are understaffed and underfunded.
