But cats are so cute! I see no problem with that.
These are wild cats with fleas and stuff. I saw TWO of them today. And one of them was black. I feel the bad luck consuming me.

Sounds like you need some coyotes and large predatory birds.

I have both in my area, and I've got three stray cats in the neighborhood that just won't die.

And yet I'd still take that over the weather we've been having...

you mean you don't like having at least an inch of ice covering the roads (and car if you drive)?

So, that barncat may be ourcat. Our stepdad already named him.

I doubt it. I have one within six inches of me right now. Had her for 20 years, I did. We just don't need three cats... again.
Edit: We're keeping him as a barn cat. That means we'll keep him out in the garage. and he'll keep the mice away.

It's generally a plus when you can open your car doors without having a good chance of sliding under said car in the process.

Who in their right minds closes all schools when only 2 inches of snow has fallen?!?!?!?!?!?
I know, I know! I am supposed to be jumping for joy, but I need to speak to my teacher in person about the most important/stressful project of the year!
Rant #2:
Due to all of the snow, trying to convince my parents to pick me up from lab is going to be a pain in the butt!

Florida.

A few years ago I was in North Carolina in February and they closed school because of a dusting that didn't even stick on the roads at all. Being a Vermonter, I was up in the middle of the night watching the snow from my hotel window and said, "I wonder if they'll close schools... nah, I won't be that mean to make fun of them that ridiculously." And then they did.

There was one time I remember Florida getting...what, half an inch of snow? All the schools shut down. Work ceased. People were just so shocked that we had zomg snow that everything was abandoned. I remember my teacher at the time was a New Yorker, and she just would not stop complaining about it for the next few weeks. "You are all such babies, honestly, it's like you wouldn't know a snowstorm if it hit you in the face. And this isn't even snow, this is just slush!"

Sounds like Central Virginia, too. I remember schools closing in my district all the time for what I thought were ridiculously small amounts of snow. But my county also included some far-off locales with poor roads and bad VDOT snow-clearing services, so even if things looked fine from my window, they might have been downright dangerous in the far corners of the county.
Anyhoo, I never complained. Snow days rock.

My school did that. They called it that night and nothing stuck, so we had schools closed the next day. No snow anywhere. Then, to make up for it later that year, they decided to leave schools open on a hellish morning of ice EVERYWHERE.

Here in Columbus, OH, it snows every winter. Without fail. Almost all winter. Regular, multi-inch snowfalls, ice, a nice medium midwestern snowy winter.
And drivers and school districts STILL freak EVERY time it snows.
