I play on a site called Howrse.com and they're currently holding a trivia contest (whee trivia how I love it.) One of the questions has got me stumped and I am unable to find the correct answer. Though lots of people have stated the answer, sort of.

The question is: What does the word Kahlkha mean in Mongolian ? (I get the feeling that they misspelt the word)
Answers are: A. saddle, B. foal, C. bridle

Now after googling the word, I get very little on the word Kahlkha but I get a lot on Khalkha. Which is a tribe of Mongolia and also the main dialect. Several people say it is Saddle because of this link:http://www.asianart.com/mongolia/1.html

Now when I see the title Khalkha Saddle, I see "The saddle designed by the Mongolian tribe Khalkha" not the answer to the question. Many people are saying it means saddle. But that makes no sense to me. its like saying the Sahara Desert. You're saying desert twice!

Why can't a word mean more than one thing?

Mandarin Chinese is a tonal language (Never made it as far as Mongolia so I don't know if Mongolian is tonal) and each word can have 5 different meanings depending on how you pronounce them.

The Mandarin word Ma can mean:

Mother
Horse
Hemp/Cannabis
Can be used to imply a question at the end of a statement
Scold (as in Scolding someone)

In this context whats to say Khalkha can't mean Saddle and the tribe named themselves after a Saddle?

*shrug* maybe.

The fact that I'm planning on doing something fairly dumb.

This is one of the rare occasions when I can say, "Holy crap I knew that!" tongue.gif

My rant: I'll probebly have to give up/SERIOUSLY cut back on Lusty if I want to do well in school next year...
Damadreas2009-08-20 17:47:06
No offense Lawliet but that probably means you should cut back anyways.

Some time before graduation - Pittstate asks for a transcript, knowing full well it won't be a final one. I send it.

Before graduation - I do a degree check, everything checks out fine.

Graduation - I walk acrossed stage, everything is going good.

Summer Vacation - I have a good summer full of work and games.

A few weeks ago - I get that broken computer dropped off that I was complaining about.

Last night - Pittstate calls and tells me they need a Final Transcript sent to them.

Today - I travel to Labette to send the transcript; It's being held, I need to do some sort of Exit Counsiling for financial aid.

- I look all over the sight and see no sign of an Exit Counseling link.

- I check my class and major information just for fun.

- I'm missing 8 credit hours towards my Major.

Monday - Classes start.

Current situation... Very pissed and apparently screwed.

I'm going to be the last of my group of friends left in the area, and I'm also the only one not able to get into and go to college this semester.

My best friend is moving away next weekend and going to New York, and I won't get to see her before she goes.

I won't see anyone again until Christmas.

My roomate won't leave me alone while I'm trying to play Lusternia work on my Computer Science project.

Yes, a Hello World program in PERL takes 3 hours, and no, I can't save and pick it up later, and no, you cannot have the laptop until I'm done.

I'm a little late, but Mongolian isn't a tonal language.
