That's why I wait for engines to cool down before working on them.

For my rant, I just barely realized today that my Money Market savings account hasn't increased in balance for months(except for deposits of course). I did a little investigating and found out it currently has a 0.00% interest rate. WTF mate.....

Welcome to the economy.
Stangmar2011-08-17 21:54:17
Yeah, what the hell man. I leave the country for 2 years and I come back and it's in shambles.....

Oh well, at least i'm not losing money(unless you count inflation).

When I arrived in the Philippines, the US Dollar was trading at 46 or 47 Philippine Pesos
When I left, it was only 42 pesos.

So, our college has a partnership with HigherOne to set up a checking account for every student. We get a debit card as our student ID and any grant/loan/scholarship refunds go onto that card. I need the refund to pay my rent which is due Sunday. The funds are to be disbursed as soon as the school receives them and applies them towards your fees/tuition. THey've now released them to the bank, which is supposed to put it on the card instantly(or so they boast). WEll, they've decided to delay it until next week. Guess i'll have to go scrounge up my rent money. Was hoping to pay the semester up front for a discount.

I hate it too. I usually put it off until 5 minutes before I leave. The crappy part is I am going up north to the county fair where my relatives are and won't be back here until Sunday, and upon safe arrival home, I must pack immediately to move to St. George for college that very night.

I need to pack, but I have been so sick and stressed out this past week. Between my exchange uni losing my grades, being told I wont get my student loan without getting those grades, not getting much for a loan, not having a job so no savings and getting letters two days before I have to settle my accounts is.. tiring.

I'd really like to be in shape, but just wanting it isn't enough to motivate me to work towards being so.

The change starts with the diet... then comes the exercise.

It's hard if you're not a person who likes to keep a schedule, but definitely doable.

Hey, it's easy. I'm in pretty good shape, and I'm the most inconsistent man alive.

I would like to gain weight. If I skip a meal, I lose 10 pounds. sad.gif Some of you may be jealous of this, but I'm here to tell you-- as a dude who's 23 and well beyond the awkward teenage years, not being able to put on a normal amount of weight is frustrating as hell. Forget muscle mass, too. That's nigh impossible unless I have a magical refilling protein shake glued to my hand.

edit: I don't ACTUALLY lose 10 pounds if I skip a meal. That was hyperbole.
Ssaliss2011-08-18 15:32:23
I've got the exact same problem. Took me years to go from 50kg to 60, and I'm no stranger to chocolate and other assorted sweets.

How tall and how heavy?

Been given until the end of the weekend to figure things out. Bleh.

^This.

It's 80% diet, 10% working out, 10% genetics.

I think the mental mistake a lot of people make is to look at getting in shape as requiring GIVING UP something (candy, fast food, TV marathons, etc.), so it's harder to motivate because they focus on the loss/sacrifice.

Instead, it may help help to think of getting in shape as CHOOSING something (a fantastic body, increased energy, better moods). By focusing on what you're gaining, it's a lot easier to motivate and make the change happen.

I have to disagree, as one of the hardest people to motivate on the planet, nothing positive is worth effort.

Well that's a pretty crappy attitude to try and get through life. You're wrong on that last part, however.

That all depends on your worldview, anything good I've been able to do in my life has been with minimal effort. On the opposite end, anytime I've put effort in, it all comes up for nothing.

Casilu how many times do I have to beat you over the head with friendship and rainbows before you stop being so down on yourself all the time?

And yeah, diet change I already did almost two years ago. suspicious.gif In the sense that I stopped drinking soda and lost 30 lbs while maintaining my ~glamorous~ sedentary lifestyle. The only problem is my goal isn't to lose weight, as I tend to lose weight rather more quickly than I know what to do about, but to get back into shape. I miss my sports legs. They were danger legs. The thing about being active with sportsy things is, you kind of trick yourself into getting into shape, as opposed to being active just to get in shape.

Yesterday, I was sick but in a fantastic mood. Today, I'm not sick but feeling slightly depressed.
