Something that bothers me...When you are driving and you just happen to look not in front of you at the car next to you and just at that time the guy next to you looks. It always seems awkward and I end up not turning my head for a mile.

I gaze deeply into their eyes for as long as they continue to look/one of us hits the car in front of us.

Trying to cram a language into my brain using materials that were written to take twice as long as we are taking them.

How does that work, exactly? If it's from school, wouldn't that make your actual retention of the language reduce drastically? Thus, making the ENTIRE class less cost effective?

In truth, we don't have to be fluent in the language. We just have to be able to read it, parse it, and know mostly what it says.

Haha, I know where you are.

A terrible day in the airline system. Got up at 3am, rushed to the airport for a 5:50 flight, only to find that the line for checkin was absurdly long and barely moving due to two people having not come in. By the time we got to the front, they had stopped boarding; about a dozen of us didn't get our flights. The rebooked flight got us out only six hours later. Lots of time to kill in the airport; too bad I had packed the power supply for my laptop in my checked luggage, not expecting to have time to use it! Things kept going on like this: I literally made it on my first connection at the last minute after running the whole length of an airport lugging several bags, for instance.

But I'm finally in the hotel. Been up more than 20 hours, and we missed the first conference sessions, but at least the room is nice and pizza is being delivered.

I had a similar situation in January. Our plane "broke" conveniently at boarding time, so they sent us all home/to a hotel because they couldn't rebook us for a flight until the next day. Missed the entire first day of my stuff.

First day in San Diego and my laptop's monitor died. The backlight goes out, I close and open the clamshell and it comes back on, then 15-20 seconds later, it goes out again.

Fortunately, I brought my netbook as a backup since I knew that it was marginal (it's been having flickers and other problems for several days). And my netbook is good enough for many things, and more portable. But the cramped screen and keyboard are limiting. And the processor can't keep up with many things.

For instance, Lusternia combat. So much for most of the training I hoped to do this week. So it's put off one more time.

Oooo, why are you in San Diego? Too bad it's been raining a lot here lately sad.gif And its the middle of winter. You should've come here in the summer!
Shiri2010-03-03 04:43:22
Fail, now I'm having dreams about Lusternia AND Touhou. I go underground to find out what the library Sylphas and Patchouli run has on the current event going on and it turns out it's Maeve (who is also Cirno) trying to cause the next ice age or something. And then it's so freakin' cold I have to hide under the quilt for ages when I wake up. Brr.

I've never played on this thread before, but my evening sucked... so:

The Creepy Guy hit on me again at work. He's really old.

They decided to make us clean all the clothes racks from top to bottom, detail zone the clothes, and space the hangers just so. If it were a nice, small store in the mall I'd understand but this is a large retail monster from hell. Then I cracked my head on one of the racks when I was standing up and it made me dizzy, but I didn't tell anyone because accident reports suck.

I don't like how that weird girl that sings Michael Jackson songs folds clothes, they're all wonky and stacked crooked.

I think I feel a little better now though.

A conference. And the last thing I'd want to do is head south in the summer! Right now is the perfect time to go south: winter has just about worn out its welcome, and it's the ideal time for a break from it.

Annnd my dad is booted from hospital way sooner than he's ready for, way sooner than we're ready for and way sooner than the house is ready for. This will be fun. doh.gif

I want a flamethrower, but I don't know where to get one or how much they would cost.
Saaga2010-03-04 09:18:57
Oh, Casilu, what problems you have! wink.gif

Alternatively you can jury rig a pressure-washer nozzle, a compressor, and a scuba tank.

Could just be because I have firefighters in the family, but that sounds to me like a very bad idea... I mean, I'm sure a professional job could be done, but I envision someone in the backyard with duct tape and I cringe.
