Student government is, always has been, and always will be, a joke. Those people actually believe they matter. Ours was convinced it was the collective second coming and their opinions were scripture. Nevermind that absolutely every decision made by SG had to be approved independently by the administration...

That's not the case in all schools. Here, the student government has a seat on the Board of Regents and almost full autonomy over their allotted fees. Their ties to the Greek organizations isn't helpful, but aside from that show of favoritism, they generally do good things.

Wish I'd had your student government.

I'm finding myself needing to talk to adult (read: older than myself at least) people, because right now I need to learn from other people's experience and wisdom.

Sounds really corny, I know, but I have my graduation coming up. I'm going to be moving to Seattle and going to Community College but the prospect of it all scares me and I'm not necessarily sure how to approach it. 0 help from my parents in this entire ordeal. I just find that letting it all out to others really helps the stress, especially when they're able to respond with their own experiences and a sort of 'Seriously, don't worry, been there, you'll be fine.' anecdote of their own.

Bring an Umbrella, or wear a raincoat.

Learn to go out and meet people, have fun! You can do that, and keep on top of your assignments.

Step one: abandon all notions of what you think you want to do with your life.

Step two: associate with people you wouldn't be ashamed to take home for Thanksgiving (because they will be invited).

Step three: deal with the institution as little as possible and the people in the institution as much as possible.

Step four: just do it -- millions before you came out just fine.

Antisocial mood, to the point where I can't even deal with talking to people I ordinarily like. rgrgrgrgr.

My job hunt is being very fruitless indeed.

Been too busy to go onto Lusty. Was told 6:00pm on the 30th that I had to move out of my apartment before the 1st. The landlady had misunderstood which day we were going to leave. Because my husband and I are friends with the daughter and her husband we didn't want to argue (we were planning on leaving in May.) My husband and I got out in time, but we lost our deposit for the burn on the shitty rug (iron fell on the rug the one time I used it. Murphy's Law and all. Never lost a deposit before). I don't mind so much that we lost the deposit. What really pissed me off was that we had one day to pack everything and leave. I did as much cleaning as I could at this time (and it looked fairly good when we left). The land lady told me off for not cleaning the place perfectly. Because she's old and apparently *very* traditional she said it was my fault that the place was dirty (not my husband's of course. Besides he was doing the physical moving.. never mind that I had done almost all the actual packing). The place would have probably been a lot cleaner if it wasn't for the fact that I had been sick up until the day before we had to move (of course I spent the whole day before cleaning and 30th helping out a friend with stuff). We moved in with my husband's parents. She said she didn't know how I could live with my Mother-in-Law- in reference to the fact I don't know how to clean (Every other place I've ever been in has looked better after we left then it did the day we moved in). She's just lucky we had friends to help us out or I would have completely forgone any sense of cleaning. I was really depressed all day on the first. Worst April Fools joke evah. depressed.gif

Depending on how many bridges you're willing to burn, you will win a court case regarding the carpet. She is legally obligated to replace it anyways.

I'd rather not lose them as friends. I'd rather not go to court about it. I don't know if she's even allowed to rent out that place. Going into a legal case could put her family into serious financial problems. The money doesn't bother me... the mean things she said did. There is a point (even for people who come from a different era) where even if you feel a certain way you shouldn't say it just to make someone else feel bad.

I work a really crappy shift (8pm to 5am CST), so I miss out on all sorts of stuff IRL and in-game. sad.gif I love my job, but I wish I could get a better shift. That's not going to happen anytime soon though because of the company's needs. ~_~ I don't even get to have a normal weekend, I'm off on Wed and Thurs.

I just wish I didn't have "Miss out on everything" syndrome. sad.gif I couldn't be there for the unveiling of the Templars/Sentinels, I can't participate in really cool events because of my schedule. I'm tired of feeling left out, like I can't really be a part of anything awesome because of my damn schedule.

Dissatisfaction with life, eh? I am dissatisfied with my housemate, Robert — also known (by me, secretly) alternatively as Hogbert, Hogzilla, Moby Dick, or any number of other colorful nicknames.

You see, Robert was raised by a doting mother and grandmother who never made him do any chores, clean up after himself, or cook. Therefore, Robert firmly believes that every house comes equipped with a magic fairy who does the dishes, sweeps the floor, takes out the trash, and so on and so forth at night while the city sleeps. In reality, of course, this fairy is actually me.

He's also obese (and has a very unsophisticated palate... cheddar cheese, barbecue sauce, ketchup, white bread, etc.), Republican (the sort who gets all of his politics from Fox News), attends a fundamentalist Christian university (I'm agnostic bordering on atheist), is obsessed with collecting guns and ammo (I enjoy guns myself, but consider them tools, not toys), never reads or writes for pleasure, and works as a security guard — the kind of security guard who wishes to be a real police officer, but can't because he's unable to physically and mentally prepare for a police academy.

So why do I put up with him?

Well, he's also my cousin. We both attend university in Hampton Roads (east coast of Virginia). And to be fair, he could be a lot worse — actively messy, loud, disruptive, or annoying — but at the end of the day, I only need to do 10-20 minutes' worth of extra chores to clean up after him, and he still pays half the bills, so... yeah.

I spent all day on Easter with a fever, stomach flu, and throwing up. I never get sick. Why the hell did it have to happen on Easter?

The dull roar of the office is starting to drive me a little batty. My new headphones cannot possibly arrive quickly enough. sad.gif

I'm super excited for the end of the school year. Not because I get to go on summer vacation, start a new job, and HOPEFULLY intern at Fidelity Investments, but because I'm going to be moving out of my dorm room. I live in the smallest triple dorm on campus (well, in the building with the smallest triples), with two roommates. Both are messy, both are loud, and I'm picked on constantly by them and their friends. My stuff gets no respect, and they snore to boot.

I spend all of my free time in the library, just to stay away from them. Next year, I'm not rooming with any of them, and I'm so happy for that. Plus, I'm rooming in a double, so I'm happy for more space.

On another note, my girlfriend can be overly controlling sometimes, and when she doesn't get HER way 100% of the time, or the plan deviates in ANY way, AT ALL, she freaks out and gets angry. I've told her countless times to chill out because plans CANNOT ALWAYS be followed to the T, but she doesn't get it. Plus, she's stubborn about it, which pisses me off...

If that's how she behaves prior to the (theoretical) wedding, I don't think I'd like to experience the aftermath of said wedding.

Are you sure he's a real person? He sounds fictitious. He sounds like either a bumbling sidekick or an obstructive, third rate villain, in fact. I know reality isn't a very realistic place, but the concept of a fellow like Mr Hogbert existing (even on another continent) makes me feel a little queasy.
