Uh-huh. And my comment about Xenthos was in reference to his insane attention to detail, often to the extent that the original point is obfuscated.

Fact is, when the quest can negate their efforts to become cultural center each and every time, it is obvious that the quest is the final deciding factor.
Now as to whether the quest is decided by combat or not, Avenger-protected pvp is still pvp. Glomdoring has enough people to repetitively waste the little caring opposition they'd face by Serenwilde, before having to worry about the Avenger. Aside of which, you can hinder people well enough without killing them.

It's strange how they keep destroying Globglob then. Watched them do it earlier this morning. Also, it's not just Serenwilde as part of it-- both Magnagora and Celest show up as well.
Further, Avenger protection lasts 30 days, so even if all of Glom ended up with Lehki / Lendren on their suspect list, they'd still be able to do it in the end. That's how Avenger works. There's pretty much no point in filling up your suspect list with people on Prime. Something which I'm pretty sure you well know, heh.
And, finally, you can (and will) be issued if you hinder someone while they're fighting a mob and they die (and if you're hindering them outside of combat, what exactly is that going to do? They can just continue on)
Back to the first point: Again, all that they have to do is raise the TBC themselves, and they've got it. We've taken CC a few days without the TBC up (because there is a pretty hefty reset time on it these days). Part of it is that we tend to have a few more people getting scholars and bards, and part of it is the Knowledge domoth. Fact of the matter is, if we can collect bards and scholars, we're going to give Seren a run for their money given how close the points are at present. If we can put up TBC, it makes it that much easier to give it a shot.
PvP is pretty much a non-issue in this. Even if someone kills you, just phoenix and return. Not like you've really lost anything and they can't touch you again.

If this were a Star Trek forum Xenthos would be everyone's least favorite nerd.
"AAAAACTUALLY, in episode 13 season 4 Captain Picard's badge was green in scenes 4-6 and blue in scenes 7-8, NOT blue in scenes 4-6 and green in 7-8. Therefore there were no continuity problems within this episode BUT it does go against the precedent set in season 2 episode 4. Get with the program guys."

Picard never had green badges!
Oh, wait, were you making fun of nerds....

Yeah I didn't commit to that joke 100%.
Shiri2010-01-10 17:44:56
It was still pretty good though.
EDIT: I will say that he has half a point though, in that it isn't strictly pvp combat that makes that entire quest total bull , but any denial that it is or that we should do it is highly dubious for well-known reasons there's no point going into again in this thread.

I still say that if Seren can do IronMoonStar, they can do TBC.
If there was any actual sticking to the "noooo, taint bad, do nothing at all with it" thing there'd be some point, but it's become a pretty nebulous (nearly non-existant) line.
Beyond that, I think they've fixed most of the issues with the quest at this point. They gave it a very long reset time before it can go back up, and the org who raised it can no longer kidnap the boy (Bad Krellan). There exists 1 remaining issue in that novices can no longer do the quest while it's up, which does suck, but at the same time it was created to allow for changes in who is currently CC, so I don't know. Either way, it can't be permanently up any more unless nobody cares to drop it. The reset time seems to be about 24 hours after it was destroyed, so there's a very limited time it affects anyone.

Actually that was the previous year. Last year the Beauty judges were fastidious about that issue, and all the winning designs were pretty nearly perfect.
Wasn't that because they changed the submit requirement, necessitating pre-approval?

Avenger or not, I never wanted to kill Xenthos more than when he showed up the second after Globglob died. I only didn't because I knew he wouldn't stand there and just take it (and for the safety of the younger ones I had with me).
The quest is a pain in the butt, regardless of any arguments made about anti- or pro-Taint.

If the Hallifax Guardians are really called Templar like the voting thing may suggest, my faux Protoss RP is even more transparent than I thought it would be.

So I'm not crazy. THEN WHY WOULD THE HALLIFAX GUARDIANS BE THE TEMPLARS!?

'cuz Gaetele is stupid and talks about things after he's been gone for the game for over a year.

Do the cities get to pick the next guild or is that set?
Doman2010-01-10 19:46:01
Our choice, I believe.
