I was under the impression that the ship was Hallifax's "city ship", and that it had therefore been opened up to everyone for the good of that city. 'We all serve the collective!', etc. If this is not the case, and it in fact exists solely to increase the essence counters of people who never participate in PK, and therefore really have no use for tens of millions of essence, then perhaps you should alter its privs and stop constantly advertising for people to siphon for you over the city channel.
because the people we take do not benefit right, oh wait they do.
And it is not like empath and pilot are fought over because I was begging people to learn piloting so I could do something else and I had to a make a system for another person so we would have an empath. So yeah you just want to turret for your own gain. Hey like Rika, or me. Only Incabulos never went with us so we are actually also being fair letting him take it.
The city does not benefit of the power we bring back, of course not.
PS poking sleeping dogs in a city and then logging of when the actual fighters take revenge on Hallifax is not really participating in PK.
Arte2010-02-07 00:55:28
I've offered to pilot, and Doman's offered to empath. In both cases you refused to let us, despite us obviously not being the sort of morons who get ships exploded. As for your postscript, I'm not sure what you mean. I've never logged off while we're being raided, except a couple of the times when we've explicitly decided to pull back and ignore the attackers.

Doman: Dibs on turret
Me: No space
Doman: wahwahwah
Doman leaves.
Me: We have 3 demi turreters
Arte: good luck finding siphoners
Arte leaves
Right. Thanks for offering to pilot and empath guys.

Why do demigods aetherhunt?
Or more generally, how is essence useful after the first few million?
Or more generally, how is essence useful after the first few million?
For the day we hope for an essence shop to spend said text essence on.
Though I'd personally just settle for the second tradeskill.
Atellus2010-02-07 01:00:06
I think it would be funny if there was no command chair, instead the job of being a pilot would randomly switch to some person locked into a module. Then everyone would have to pilot, everyone would have to pay attention, and no one would get a free ride.
Xenthos2010-02-07 01:01:38
You know, I'm hearing reports about Hallifax's ahunting being "terribly inefficient," so... if this is true, this would explain why people like Arte think that being on a siphon is so bad (when in reality it should still be pretty decent experience).
Might want to re-assess some things if that's really the case, though.

Rael2010-02-07 01:02:27
You could always lead your own hunt.
Arte2010-02-07 01:04:36
It's definitely better experience than solo bashing is at my usual pace, and I don't mind sitting a collector as long as I can be fairly certain that I'll get to turret once over the course of a three to four hour trip. And I've been turned down before for other positions, I don't feel like getting on my knees and begging Anisu to let me put her ship in peril by healing it with my unskilled hands. You'd think that she actually lost credits any time it exploded.

I don't know how we're any less efficient than others. We're killing things as quickly as we could, we're getting multiple beasts at once. The only problem we've had lately was that we've drained some vortices so much that we've been getting lots of karibideans, but that's why we've been trying to find new spots. Even if you halved the essence I've been gaining, I'd still take it over actually hunting wherever else.

Funny the permission on the empath grid is: not enemy of ri`Tou, except member of hearth. I only further limit the pilot chair (obvious reasons) and I only demand 2 positions one for myself and one for Rika (which since I forked out the credits is more then fair), all the rest goes to first come first serve.
Of course if the empath is not healing properly (like Casilu today, sorry my untested system might have messed up!), I summon them out to be replaced.
Razenth2010-02-07 01:13:28
Wouldn't know unless you did essence per minute calculations or actually sat on the ship. Anyone want to invite me on their ship to see how they hunt? >_>
Doman2010-02-07 01:14:02
No, I remember quite well being told "no" because I was "inexperienced", so don't go saying it's first come first serve.

Like I said before you showed no signs of having any knowledge except 'having and old zmud system' If you can not be bothered to read the clanhelps I do not bother teaching
Nothing stopping you from empathing when I am not onboard.

I shudder to think how much Lendren has.
Me too.
I gain essence because it's an unavoidable side effect of creating corpses and esteem for offering, which is why I'm not doing it via aetherhunting right now. Though I might get started aetherhunting again for the sake of generating experience for my crewmates -- and for the fun of it.
Until they do that buy-extra-tradeskills-with-demigod-essence thing we were promised, I have no real use for it -- I have more than enough for deaths and zaps and divinefires from here to kingdom come.

whaaa I invest 0 gold and 0 credits in to an aethership and the person that invested 5.5million gold and 3000 credits picks herself and her friends to turret, life is so unfair!
This, this, a thousand times this. Flying on the ship is a privilege, not a right, as the damn thing is worth over 1150$ AU. I'm just thankful we noobs are allowed on at all!

From help denizen combat:
It doesn't take so long to get ship proficiencies up to speed that it is really an issue. Demi is irrelevant.
Of course, none of this would be an issue if they'd just give full xp to the siphoners too. Yes, they're just sitting there. But lets be freaking practical and realistic here- so is everyone else.
Or better yet, since demi is becoming the status quo requisite for combat, make regular bashing as good as aetherbashing.

(though I don't think any of Halli's demis are doing it for this reason; at least, not seriously so. They're all very far back).
Nah, they don't feel like filling out the Essence Acquisition Request Featuring Articles Requiring Triplicate ©. (EARFART for short)

I thought they got half xp more because you can have an infinite number of collectors but only limited numbers of the modules that give full xp.
