Nah, I'm a terrible writer. It's probably one of my best, but I'm sure the others were better.

I didn't figure out jack. This is what happened from my viewpoint almost verbatim.

Day 1: Gm Says, "Hey. I want to quit my position, if I do will you contest?" I say yes.
Day 2: Gm says, "Hey. Champion would rather be GM and You'd make a good champion, would you contest for that instead?" I say, meh. Sure.
Day 3: Champion says, "Hey. Are you still planning on contesting for Champion so I can be GM?" ...Yes. Leave me the censor.gif alone about it, geez.
Day 4: Today.

Actually, between day 2 and day 3 I had no knowledge of Pectus telling you after she and I talked. So I spoke with you about it.

And Vusilk, Forsetu is your replacement.... laugh.gif

Actually, I was the one who put in the essay requirement and cut it down to three paragraphs.

You're welcome!

Damn you. sad.gif

It's not that I can't write essays (English was my best subject), I just f***ing hate doing it. This will seriously cause me to put off the whole indoctrination exam for a freaking real-life week, at least.

That may be part of the point-- we experienced players like to think we don't have to spend any time as a learner in a new guild because we already know how the game works. In fact, we should probably spend more time as a learner so we can learn about the guild we are in.

Says the person who never changed guilds. Let the experienced guild-hoppers talk.

Yes and no. I think when things become overly complicated it takes away some of the fun. And while they might be easy for an experienced player, I can see where it might be frustrating for a new player who cannot be considered a full guild member (within the Nihilist) until GR3, but to -get- that rank, you have to do, as a maximum, four exams, at least two interviews(with another five for one task), at least one essay, and it also requires finding (as a general guide) three different people for mentor/testing. In a small guild, or if you are on at non-standard hours, those sort of reqs are just upsetting, even if you are an experienced player.

The time and needing to speak to people who may or may not be around, may or may not be busy would be the major concerns. They're the ones I have the most worry over. And the more experienced players often argue for harder requirements, saying things like 'when I was a novice, I did them'. Which is all well and good, but sometimes when you're losing five people for everyone one you get to pass through, it's kind of disappointing.

So in my opinion it's not that we should spend more time paying attention to the guild and creating harder tasks- that can come through intelligent questions and roleplay- but that we should be making more time to interact with everyone. It's also certainly not a case of 'no one caring' about half-assed tasks, but that some of the information the tasks ask you to gather can be tested through simple discussion and roleplay rather than formalised tasks and exams.

(I think I went over the unofficial word limit. Sorry, but this topic really bugs me!)

Wait, someone is actually looking to join celest? I thought the plan was for the last one (kicked)out to turn off the Light. We will never get there at this rate!
Reiha2010-02-10 08:26:15
You'd think Celest would be more desperate for a full time melder.
